Let me introduce you to Lennox who is currently with us here at Gateshead Cats Protection. Lennox is a big tabby boy who had been living as a stray for a long time and as a result he was originally thought to be feral because he was so scared around people and hissed and scratched when anyone went too close to him. However now he has been with us a while it seems as if he is not truly feral after all and has at one time had a home. We think he has just become very antisocial because of the life he has had to lead. Lennox is very healthy but unfortunately he is FIV + which coupled with his nature means he is difficult to find the right home for. Normally we would rehome him as an indoor only cat but he wouldn't be happy being entirely indoors and we can't rehome him to a farm or stables as we would a feral or semi feral because of his FIV status. So we are looking for a very special home for Lennox, somewhere that his new owner will be able to cope with his nature and realise he will probably never be a cuddly cat and where he has access to a secure outside space where he won't be at risk or put other cats at risk. We would need his new owner to have no other cats or FIV cats of their own. Lennox is getting much better with people but he still sometimes lashes out if you startle him but we feel he deserves a chance and with a lot of time and patience he will become a lovely cat even if he is never going to be a lap cat.
We are prepared to consider homes outside our area and we can sort out home checks and transport for the right home. If anyone thinks they can help Lennox have a new start then please PM me or ring our helpline on 0191 4203180.
Thank you
