That is sounding promising then Ruth, we have had cats not coming into season for a couple of months but not 7-8 months and being outside.

When I took her to vets to be scanned I asked if they could tell if she was spayed, they said you cant tell.

And Im sure if Pippa is not spayed she will be getting done

She was taken in off the streets and has been seen outside for a good 7/8 months so i think she would of became pregnant if she had'nt been done.....

....just dont like them having GA if they dont need to

It is a tricky one, we prefer to wait and see if they come into season - checking for a scar isnt always reliable.

You cant be 100% without opening them up but if they shave and find a scar and she doesnt call then you should be ok.

You can get cats that are entire but dont call, still at risk of cancer tho.

CC took her to the vets when she 1st had her....they give her the once over but never said if she had been spayed or not

How do they know

is it through a hormone test maybe?

All my cats in the house have been spayed and neutered already so i just thought if i waited 6 months and no season id find out that way

Yepthe cat is with me and she's a little doll.....dont really know her approx age (maybe 5ish?) her teeth are all good and she is becoming more agile as she relaxes and gets used to the place.....she has defo been out of home for a while......she was really shy....jumped at the least noise, when sat at the window she would jump down if someone walked past the house.....and she has only been out the back once and prefers to stay indoors

There has been lost of houses knocked down near me, Im thinking they have just left her as she didnt look stray and she doing fine at my mums with 6 cats and a dog.

Pepper is at a safe haven till her owner can be found, thats if she has one.

Im thinking she has been left to stray as loads of houses have been knocked down in the area, maybe her owner has moved on without her.

I read on here somewhere that a cat is only legally yours if its chipped and the details registered are yours. This is in a case of dispute with another person.

I have a plan- I'm going to take her to somewhere she can be safe, warm and fed and try to find her owner. I will put up notices in shops etc and give it a couple of weeks, I will also contact CP to see if anyone has reported her lost.

Do you think this is what I should do or just let her back out with the collar on?

All I can say is if she does have a home nearby she obviously doesn't want to go there. Maybe her owner has moved out?

She has only been coming here for the past few weeks but I have seen her walking the streets late at night for a couple of months.

She really is a lovely cat, a total fusspot. She slept in the front room last night and no cat fights as yet

Im not a 100% sure if what i stated as "True".......just made sence as chipping is as "cheap as chips" (pardon the pun

) surely that would come hand in hand if you had a receipt........cats are easily given away etc......

Maybe someone could enlighten us??

I am not sure Pink. We had this over and over on Catchat and They certainly didnt used to be but not sure its very straight forward even now.

It also seems they can change hands quite easily cos there is a thread on here somewhere involving the quick rehoming of a cat that belonged to someone and they couldnt get her back.

if the cat has a chip that is registered to the right person, even RSPCA couldnt get away with not contacting the owner I think.

Really? I thought all people had to do was produce a reciept for the animal to claim legal ownership? Aren't cats classed as a 'posession'?

I really dont like the thought of taking her if she is someone's cat. But then I suppose cats choose where they want to live

The vets said are you keeping her if she is not chipped, is this ok to do this? I think they might of thought I was going to leave her there.

Yes to what Gill lol. The vets said not to feed her in the hope she will go home, thats if she has one.

Anyways its raining and cold and Im a soft touch, she's in my kitchen, already been fed and I think she will stay here tonight. My cats are being ok actually- its her hissing at them.

The only chance I have with the registers is if someone has reported her missing, and if she is a true stray no one will of done this will they?

All the vets in your area should keep a lost and found, all the rescues even your local council site may have a section with cats on, mine do.

Strays dont have to be skinny and dirty, the amount of waste us dirty humans make is ample to feed many animals.

It maybe that her owners are on holiday and she doesnt like the arrangements that have been made for her but she keeps going back chaecking to see if they are home.

My last visitor in London was like this, he used to visit often but suddenly didnt want to leave. As I thouight I was moving in few weeks I was desperate so took a photo and stuck up posters all around, saying that If I did not here from his owners by a set date , thro the corner shop , then he would be rehomed.

I heard within 24 hrs and the owners had arranged for someone to come and feed him but he did not like it and he had tried to move into their next door neighbours before me.

He visited me right up to my last day there and it still makes me sad that I had to leave Sooty behind and the thought of him coming looking for me in an empty house makes me so sad.

I did tell his owners the date i leftbut have never heard from them telling me he was OK despite asking.

maybe Misa was sent to me specially by Sooty cos Sooty was an enormous black and white although shorthaired.

Thanks for the advice Sam, I have not lost her- I think she may be missing from home (?) She's not my cat.

I have had her to vets this morning and she is not chipped

So I have put the collar with the note back on her and let her out. Hopefully she will go home and her owner will call me.

The vets said if she keeps returning with the collar on leave it for a few days, in the hope she will go home and try not to feed her also. Thats going to be hard.

If after a few days she keeps showing up I will have to get onto a rescue so they can take her in.

The vet give her a good check over and she is in good health.

Come on phone ring!!!!
