Kudos to your work and we all look forward to seeing more of your projects, as well as your participation, and getting to know Coffee and Cookie more! :)

Magnificent stuff your film is great

Why have their numbers dwindled from 9,000 to just 400?

I hope they do not become extinct

Wildcats and domestics are indeed different species of cat; domestics were "evolved" from various wildcat species over time; famously the Egyptians with the relatively pleasant African wildcat, though the process started much earlier with the Asian wildcat. I've written some stuff about wildcats in this thread in the general forum;

Included a couple of photos and links to more!

I second that, Yvonne. We like hearing ab out all kinds of puds.  ;)

I'm fairly sure Scottish Wild cats are genetically different to the domestic mog, but a furbabe is a furbabe, isn't it?  :evillaugh:

Hey everyone,

Most un-Scottish-ly I live in Kent at the moment, planning to move in next couple of years though, we shot the film all around the Cairngorms and bits of the West coast like Ardnamurchan and the Fort William/Ben Nevis area, I'll try and find a more relevant forum to post up some more info on wildcats another night, they're fantastic things.

Nice to know I'm around some other film types!

My dog is called Baron, Akita's have a pretty regal look so it seemed fitting, he's a pure white one, I kind of regret buying a pedigree when so many are in shelters but my girlfriend had really wanted an akita for a while, he's taught me a lot about wolves anyway!

Hi Steve and   :welcome:  to Purrs

My claim to fame is filming with Patrick Swayze a couple of years ago and prior to that Sean Bean, but sadly it appears to be the end of my filming career, no big breaks for me.

Hi Steve - big welcome to you, Cookie and Coffee   :hi:

Can't wait to have a look at your links (but can't get access at work, sadly  :sigh: so will have to wait until I get home!  It sounds really interesting.

What's the name of your Akita?  I've also got a dog and one cat - the dog's called Tess and she's a beardie collie cross and the cat, well that's him up there on the left - Paddy, aka as The Persil Kid, the Ginger Imposter and so on.  ;)

Hope you have fun on the forum Steve.

My ex's mother was one given a Scots wild cat/tabby cross kitten. It wasn't the most placid moggy in the world!

Welcome to Purrs, Steve.  :welcome: Hubby is kind of in the film and entertainment business too in a way. He designs and builds scenery and fake environments.

I hope you'll enjoy the forum as much as we do and you're bound to learn heaps about cats.  ;)

Hi, I'm Steve from a little film company called Coffee Films which specialises in films about cats, mostly the wild ones!

I've been keeping an eye on this and some other cat forums just seeing what other people find interesting for a new idea, and thought I;d sign up so I could answer some of the questions I know answers to and so on, so hello!

I volunteer as a webmaster for my local RSPCA who I have to mention of course; www.midkentrspca.com

We have two cats, a big beautiful blotched tabby called Coffee who is also our company mascot (www.coffeefilms.com/bioc.html), and a noisy little white/tortoiseshell called Cookie who came from the RSPCA, they also live with a big Japanese Akita so I hope I can help with any threads involving cohabiting dogs and cats!

I've always made films and decided to switch into wildlife a couple of years ago, I shot a film on the endangered Scottish wildcat which is coming out on DVD later this year and spend a lot of time reading lengthy science papers and making friends with wildlife parks so I can get time around and with different wild species of cat, understanding them is so important to trying to film them.

Anyway, hope I can add something useful to the forum now I'm signed up, thanks for having me. Anyone interested can see a 90 second trailer for my film with lots of shots of wildcats in it on the film website; www.coffeefilms.com/scottishwildcats, hope you enjoy it, you can learn more about them at another charity I help out www.scottishwildcats.co.uk, there's only 400 left!

Cheers,

Steve
