mmmmmmmmmm for me they are the sun on the reed beds along the river at the edge of the bottom paddock of the place I grew up, or over the road in the bird sanctuary where I spent my days wading around in over-the-top-of-the-wellies water observing the nesting habits of the local birds. Hot sun, shimmery haze, wet smell of reeds, soft wind............. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

BC my "garden" is the about the size of a postage stamp but i do have a very healthy buddleia bush so I get loads of insects ... easy prey for Dragonfly's.  I also live about 5 mins drive from the River Trent.

.... or maybe an enemy!

I have just been in the garden playing with Rossi and Zephyr and "Da Bird" when we were suddenly joined by a huge (at least 3-4 inch) bright red dragonfly  :Luv:  As I was flying "Da Bird" round the dragonfly was wooshing round behind.  I like to think dragonfly was trying to make friends but in reality I think it was trying to scare the "intruder" off it's patch.  I regularly have dragonfly's patrolling round the buddliea bush hunting bugs and buttrfleis but they are usually smaller blue ones.  This one was stunning, huge and stroppy!
