Boudicca was a queen of the Iceni tribe in southern England shortly after the romans landed. When her husband died the roman's claimed her possessions, not recognising the female line of descent. She got upset and in retribution the romans came around, raped her daughters and gave her a generally hard time. She then set off a revolt that came awfully close to driving the romans out of the island, but they won eventually. It is also spelled Boadicea, but more commonly accepted as Boudicca these days.
