. All Cats Protection branches and shelters are covered by a CP HQ Blanket licence as indeed are the for alcohol.

I can't do much else from this end as its high season and I'm flat out with the B&B. Just that the other charity will nab it tomorrow. Maybe CP can get it another time.

You can do it but you have to have a license for the days you want to fund raise.......I think you approach your council for this.

I know you have to have a licence but it is still classed begging if you rattle the tin or ask. All Cats Protection branches and shelters are covered by a CP HQ Blanket licence as indeed are the for alcohol.

I nominate Blackcat and Pinkbear to do this weekend - I will make the call to nab the job if agreed  :evillaugh:

 :what:

Mark, get on to Gabriel and see what she says with regard to reinforcements. If it doesn't clash with a Table Top sale, maybe Sally would be willing if we gave her a lift? I can be there part of the day, but not all I fear.  :( But the offer of vizy vests is genuine - we've got tonnes of them. Bit grubby, but still regulation. I'll wash them before, of course...  ;)

(note to self - look up in dictionary the term 'volunteer'   :tired: )

Mark, what's the really famous on in the high street - Wheelers, isn't it? Blackcat, if you don't go anywhere else, go there...  :sneaky:

You haven't got a hope in hell of getting in Wheelers at short notice in the summer (3 month waiting list to eat there at the weekend) I've never been although it in my road - but not that fussed about food.

If we want to grab this opportunity, someone needs to speak to Dave Heenan who is the chair of the chamber. It sounds like another charity - one for humans or something silly like that will get it if we don't get in quick  :evillaugh:. This is about fundraising in a big (ish) way - I reckon it could net £500+ every weekend in the summer (more than a few cat blankets worth  :evillaugh: ). I nominate Blackcat and Pinkbear to do this weekend - I will make the call to nab the job if agreed  :evillaugh: - this is too good to pass up - also there is a lot of "London Money" in Whitstable at the weekend so lets go for it. I appreciate that Sharon is bogged under. I would do it if I worked weekdays but its impossible for me with a B&B to run. Let me know and I will arrange it if need be.

(8.30 start on saturday until carnival finishes, 10am -6pm sunday) 70 - 80 a day cars paying a donation of £2 - £5 depending on guilt trip  :evillaugh:

Re the volunteer parking thing. It's too late this time, but if I get a week or so's notice, I'll bring the Toad and myself down. I'll lend us all Hi Vis as we'll no doubt need them to comply with regs, etc. They will have our company logo on the back, mind...  :innocent:

Hi all
I passed the email Mark onto Gabrielle our fundraising person, as although i think its a great idea, it relies on volunteers. And they are like golddust. Although i would love to organise all of this, at the moment i spend all my time (and more) sorting out poorly cats and getting into the nitty gritting of fundraising (very much needed) i will need counselling!!! So have rallied the troups and will see what can be done, as its a great opportunity and one we dont want to miss... Thanks Mark for telling me about this...

PS Yes Canterbury Council are not very helpful on those kind of things...

They are both pricey but you can get discount vouchers by joining a club a the Crab & Winkle. In either, meal for 2 with a bottle of wine £90 - £100  :scared:

A few miles down the road in Herne Bay is my favourite fish restaurant, great food, lovely French lady runs it and its right on the seafront. About 1/2 the price of the Whitstable ones. They also have some seating outside looking out to sea - I love it  ;D

the one above the fish market - crab and claw or something like that... Not the one at the royal oyster company (or whatever it is called) as I gather that is a bit pricey

Maybe for the future it would be a good idea. For now the car park fees should suffice. I'm sure Blackcat could shame the tightwads if they try paying 50p for a days parking  :evillaugh:

As for getting the licence for collection tins, Sharon probably knows the score. Canterbury council are well know for being unhelpful, even obstructive.

he also said you can get extra money by rattling a box as well.

First idea very good, however you are not allowed to rattle charity tins or even ask, as that is then classed as begging.

Sharon is trying to get the volunteers so if you are serious, you can email her offering your services, whether as a one off, regular or maybe rota  :evillaugh: Unfortunately  :evillaugh: I am already working 7 days a week at the moment so can't possibly help  :evillaugh:

Let me know if you want me to PM Sharon's email  ;D

Fair crack of the whip!! Tomorrow is my first day back at work!!! If you are serious, let me know and I will be there complete with a large black companion - he will love the chance to meet lots of interesting new people and catch a train. I have also heard about a great restaurant down your way that I would love to try out if they let dogs sit at table...

He did suggest setting up a stall as well - so that could work.

Early start for you on Saturday then Blackcat - are you going to be the cashier or the parking attendant?  :evillaugh:

Wondered why people taking collections at supermarket entrances/railway stations were so apathetic. I assumed they were really just not committed to the cause... Still, if you happened to have an informatoin stand that had a collection tin on it that would not be against the rules surely

The man that runs the bookshop 3 doors away (great shop) is involved in the chamber of commerce that I belong to. The other day, I asked if they could put something in the next newsletter about CP. He said he would sort something. I went past his shop today and he said he had a great idea. Our local junior school does a charity carpark in the summer as the town gets really busy and there is a shortage of parking. He said approx 80 cars a day use it at the weekend and the people who want to park donate between £1 & £5 each- he also said you can get extra money by rattling a box as well. The way it works is the school gets 1/2 for their funds and the charity gets the other 1/2. There is an opening now including this weekend. Another charity are interested so Sharon is going to try to get some volunteers rounded up quickly so CP get in 1st. One person to take the dosh and another to make sure people park sensibly  :evillaugh:

Just thought other people might want to speak to their local chamber as mine were really helpful. They said they will also put a piece in the newsletter  ;D
