He he this thread got me thinking about the song- here are the lyrics!! (bet you will have this in your head all day!)

I like a cheech-a-cheech-chee-roni
Like they make at home
Or a healthy fish with the big backbone
I'm Abraham deLacy
Giuseppe Casey
Thomas O'Malley
O'Malley, the alley cat!

I've got that wanderlust
Gotta walk the scene
Gotta kick up highway dust
Feel the grass that's green
Gotta strut them city streets
Showin' off my eclat, yeah
Tellin' my friends of the social elite
Or some cute cat I happen to meet
I'm Abraham deLacy
Giuseppe Casey
Thomas O'Malley
O'Malley, the alley cat!

I'm king of the highway
Prince of the boulevard
Duke of avant garde
The world is my backyard
So if you're goin' my way
That's the road you wanna seek
Calcutta to Rome or
Home-sweet-home in Paris
Magnifique, you all

I only got myself
And this big old world
When I sip that cup of life
With my fingers curled
I don't worry what road to take
I don't have to think of that
Whatever I take is the road I make
It's the road of life make no mistake, for me
Yeah, Abraham deLacy
Giuseppe Casey
Thomas O'Malley
O'Malley, the alley cat!

That's right
And I'm very proud of that
Yeah!

I nearly called my cat that until i got a girl...

I still havent managed to catch the butter, saw him last night and he is now putting some weight on the leg.

I spotted another that needs attention this morning, a lovely tabby tom with large gash on his head and about 3 inches of skin hanging off it  :(

Its chucking it down with rain at the mo so no point putting the trap out, the bait will probably float off

Really wish you luck, MM

I found on a similar venture that if I warmed through the cat food, it seemed more effective and enticed them quicker. Never thought of KFC, but it's a sensible suggestion. He'll be used to stuff like that as it's probably all the poor little soul's had to eat for yonks - that and the odd kebab dropped by drunks.  :(

But they are cunning little b****rs when they want to be!  :evillaugh:

Looks like he is learning to "cope" with it but its sad when he doesn't have to.

Do what I did and have a word a few words with God. I used to sit and say to Blacky its going to be so much better for you and in the end I think he understood.

Good luck, wishing you all the best, its really frustrating to see them walk up to the trap and then walk away.  :tired:

Good idea, he may be a felix boy  :innocent:

He is mainly speed hopping on 3, the front right is held up and out at a right angle. I did see him put his paw to the ground once so he can straighten it out but not for long.
I cant believe the speed he achieves tho, rather amazing!

When we trapped Blacky he didn't go for the pilchards or tuna but his plain old cat food.  :shy:

Hope you can get him tonight, I got everything crossed for you.  :)

How is he using his leg? Is it really bad or is he coping?

Thanks Slyvia  :) Could you update Tattys thread?  :shy:

Although i can see trap from my house i went to check that the fish hadnt been swiped and he was there again.

So any suggestions on smelly enticing bait that isnt fish?

He doesnt seem taken with my offerings of pilchards and mackeral, it always amazes me how fussy strays can be!

The garden im using has a couple of huge conifers with piles of old wood and a heap of rotting grass under them. Snoozing on the grass was O'Malley, i think he was waiting for me just to torment me! I really feel he's teasing me now.

Fingers crossed the trap pings tonight  :shify:

Hes a longterm stray, and has always been rather nervy so i dont think any kids or mean people would have got hold of him. Once its been x-rayed i think the vets may be able to shed some light? I hope so.
Iv got my shed and run fixed together all ready & snug for him. Just cosmetic paint work left to do.

Yes, it's hard to see them suffer and not be able to do anything about it. Poor fella - wonder how he broke his leg - might be why he is shy of humans ............

Iv been trying to catch a stray <O'Malley> with broken leg for about a month now, i normally put the trap out early afternoon, today i had a headache so had a nap instead. Got up to feed the cats and put it out and who wandered across my garden heading to where the trap *should* be.... O'Malley, bloody typical.  >:(
I have kicked myself but not hard enough so please sending your kickings this way!
