Didn't manage to get there today as I forgot my daughter had an Optician appointment  and then had to go to work  :tired:

Won't be able to get there till the weekend now so might phone them to make sure they have it  :sneaky:

We've got a new pet shop in our town (called Fullbellys!), and I can get chick crumbs from them for £5.89 for the 20kg sack yippee! I was paying £7.80 something at Jollyes, which was still a good price - but this is even better! Its not the same brand, I was using Dodson and Horrell, but its exactly the same to look at, and works exactly the same.

The one I use is made by Dodson and Horrell...

There's a stockist locator on their website - here's the results for Warwickshire - http://www.dodsonandhorrell.com/uk/dh/stockist?national=72&commit=Search  Not all shops sell the whole range ie) some just sell the horse stuff so look under each shop name for what they sell - I'd guess it's in the 'countryside range'.  I just clicked on one of the shops websites on that list that didn't mention the countryside range (countrywidefarmers) and they sell chick crumbs made by a different manufacturer so you should be able to find some near you  ;D

Shall keep looking though as it sounds really good

I'm going to look for this stuff! I bought some World's Best last week, it's good but not worth the price, I think. I just mixed it in gradually with the one I had been using and the kittens seem to like the texture of it.

Thanks for the tip!

Its called chick crumb and is bird food! Very similar to worlds best just cheeper (hee hee)  :-[

Somewhere that sells horse feed would be a good place to start. Also some chick feeds have added 'extras' so you just want a plain one.

Yep, as above.  Gillian started the trend I think  :evillaugh:

I get mine from Jollyes 'chick start crumbs' - £7.50 for a 20kg sack which is slightly more, volume wise, than the 25kg sacks of Fullers Erath I used to get, I find it lasts much longer than the fullers earth but the main advantage is it being flushable.  As MM says it's a cheaper version of WBCL, they are both made out of corn so do the same job.  Dawn F on here was buying a subsititute litter on ebay being branded as 'just like World's best 'for £13 + vat + £9 shipping, she took the plunge and bought some chick crumbs and apparently it turned out that was what she had been buying all along!

I find you need to have the trays fairly deep so it takes almost a whole sack to start off with for two trays but after that it seems to last forever!

I would buy a small bag of wbcl to see if all yours will use it, 2 of mine dont like the texture.

Question for Helen
« Reply #1 on: June 25, 2007, 15:29:44 PM »
Hi Helen

On one of the threads you said you were converted to a new litter, chick somethingy,  :evillaugh: I have the attention span of a goldfish.

Is it really better than the fullers earth?

The thing I remember you saying was it clumps well and you can flush the poos. With having four furbabes it would save my bin from smelling so bad in the hot weather

Also where do you get it from?

Sorry for all the questions  :shy: but it sounded really good.
