I have recently got a new leather sofa and my 2 cats didn't go near it for weeks. They will now lie down on me if I am on it or if I put a blanket down but think they don't like the cold leather.  If you've got a radiator in the room, maybe get a radiator hammock, mine love theirs.

We had that problem with all of ours only it happened to be in our new house we have stairs and if they wanted to slpeep with parents then they had to come up them - our previous house was a bungalow this one had to rooms in one part upstairs the rest of the bedrooms are downstairs.

It took nearly 4 months inclding the round up after the great escape and now all come upstairs at some point to see/sleep with us.  Dogs won't even try it!

Best of all our blind 21 y.o has it sussed first with the lure of roast beed Bert showed then how to do it also Sweetie our 14y.o - my first houe has stairs now we play bally in the evening with power balls and have 20 leaping cats with the older ones looking on in disdain!

Go for the bribery option it helps with the human guilt!!!!!  Next time ask the cats permission!

This reminds me of when I got a new stair carpet.  For about a week after it was fitted Stitch sat at the bottom of the stairs staring at it and would not go up them.  She did eventually come round LOL!

What a silly guy, don't worry, before long you'll be wishing he still didn't like it so he could shove over and give you some room! :)

I have had a new Leather sofa last weeked and Ziggy HATES it!

At first I thought it was because it was new and he was not used to the smell. But all weekend he sat in the middle of the room looking sad and lost that his beloved old sofa was not there to jump on. :(

Then I thought its because its leather, so we put his blanket and cushion on it, but no... he still gives me the sorrowful look and lies on the floor or on his other favourite perch...on top of the TV.

Yes, he also likes to watch TV before jumping up on top of it!!

Anyone else had this happen to them with a leather sofa??

I suppose I should be PLEASED he dislikes it so much!!  Its just that "look" he gives me!!
 >:( when he is lying on the floor!

Poor puss!!  :)
