APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS – ALGARVE, PORTUGAL
The Lagos Animal Protection Society, Algarve, Portugal is appealing for
residential volunteers.
www.laps.iperium.com An APA Supporter recently visited the Lagos sanctuary and was very impressed
with their work in dog and cat rescue. Established in 1980, the Lagos sanctuarywas the first of its kind to be set up in the Algarve. The operation is run by an English woman, Bridget Hicks, who is now seventy-nine, almost blind, and desperately in need of hands on help.
The sanctuary currently has 22 dogs and 12 cats and kittens and has a non-destruction policy. Free accommodation is on offer to anyone who can stay there for a minimum of one month although other living costs would need to be covered by the volunteer.
Ultimately the sanctuary is seeking permanent new management but meanwhile
is keen to recruit conscientious volunteers who can stay there for as long
as possible.
Please contact APA if you are interested or would like more information.
