Silvie had a bad start in life, she was brought to our stables where I kept my horse with her brother when she was a kitten. The yard owner didn't believe in having them neutered as she made an income from "kittens". Her poor brother ended up as an RTA victim. I found Silvie out on the road a few times, which was very busy. I took her home and told yard owner I would get her spayed. She went mad and said to bring her back as she would have lovely kittens
Sadly I brought her back, then the 2nd time I found her on the road I decided (with my friend) she wasn't safe so I catnapped her! The yard owner rang me ranting and raving after she "disappeared" but I denied I had her. Said I would even put some missing posters up in the area! So Silvie came home to live with me, she was spayed, innoculated and had a lovely life. At the age of 11 she developed thyroid problems and as she was insured, she went off to Canterbury for a month to have radio iodine injections. This worked brilliantly and for the last two and a half years her thyroid tests were fine. Earlier this year she started sneezing a lot and was ill, after having numerous vet trips, x-rays, blood tests, steroids, antibiotics they thought she had a brain tumour. She had 4 fits 2 weeks ago and spent the day on a drip then came home. I thought I was losing her as she was comatose. To my surprise the next morning she was awake, though wobbly and then picked up. She was going out in the garden, purring, eating really well. Saturday she went downhill again, was very poorly and not herself at all. Her nose was bunged up, she was grumpy and back to vets for more meds of a different type. Hoping against hope she would pick up again but last night she was very poorly, would not eat or drink but purring. At 6am I sat with her and cuddled her, told her I loved her so much and we would meet again, and she passed away with me holding her. Silvie was such a special cat, everyone loved her, she was so pretty and affectionate. I am so glad I catnapped her all those years ago and she had a lovely pampered life with me wanting for nothing. She is now reunited with her brother and Tabby and Moses who I lost last year. Sitting here writing this in floods of tears but know that she is at peace now and not suffering. On a final note, I went into my bedroom to clear away her things, and on looking under my bed I found a small mound of poo! Silvie had the last laugh
RIP my gorgeous Silvie Wilvie aged only 13 and a half
