spoke to head nurse today and it appears  the newbie receptionist wasn't quite honest with the vet, instead of my polite request & inquiry,  she apparently charged into surgery during an op and told the vet that I had demanded the medicine.  Not surprised the vet was off with me but hope by being diplomatic situation sorted.  ( he has been a good vet for over 15 years)

You could try ringing one of the Veterinary ie Cambridge http://qvsh.co.uk/ or or Royal Vet Hospital https://www.rvc.ac.uk/equine-vet/practice and ask for their advice?

Or maybe ask why he's being so hostile to a possible remedy, so you can better understand his reasoning. 

There may be a logical reason for his reaction, or he may be feeling slighted.

It's important that he understands your need to find something which may assist in Tenini's treatment, and you could explain that you feel you've been turned away with little real understanding of the diagnosis and options available.

If you still don't like what his answer is, then consider seeking an alternative veterinary opinion.

went to see vets but he wasn't interested and just pretended that I had ordered  these ridiculous tablets far too high in mg's and said that you cant get 2ml tablets or liquid or transdermal gel.  I'm afraid he does seem annoyed that I had gone to another vet while he was closed.

thanks both of you, looked at Summit but now the prob is vets are not getting back to me so I have had a little help from some where else. Will be back tomorrow with an update I hope.

I'll ask my neighbour if she can remember which place she used to get the transdermal hyper-thyroid med, but I do remember because it wasn't used a lot, it was about a week turnaround. It's the only one I've ever heard of as transdermal.

it seems to me that too many vets throw abs at just about everything, and when they don't work their only suggestion is a longer acting ab

thanks Kay it does seem that here in the uk it would have to be a compouding pharmacey but you would think the vets would know that. It would be great if more of the transdermal gels were used over here especially for all of us who have struggled to get a tablet into our little fur-babes.

a quick google suggests this drug is still in the experimental stage in the UK, but you could contact these people to see if they can advise where your vet could get it - the last pharmacy listed mentions a liquid form of it http://www.ed.ac.uk/vet/services/pharmacy/compoundingpharmacies

Hi Pandora, Your vet has no right to be upset. As you say, he was not available so what else were you supposed to do?!

Found out about transdermal mirtazapine gel, a med that could help my Tenini does anybody know where in the uk this could be obtained.
I tried my vet who seems to be angry with me for going to another vet over the weekend, but I had to as his practice was shut and my concern was my cats welfare.
