MM, to be honest, I've only picked one of them up so far. Reason being I like to let an animal settle into it's surroundings a bit before picking them up too much. He didn't seem to hate it, though, so that's a good sign.  :)

Blackcat:

The previous owner had some breeding mice that they allowed to all live together. Progressively the mice became more and more (as rodents do!) until there was close to 200 of them sharing their space. The males then ended up fighting over food, territory and females. At the last count, after they were separated and the females had had any babies it was closer to 400.

The fights resulted in things like missing tails, sometimes worse. Not all of the mice could be saved from the injuries they'd sustained as far as I'm aware.

Smudgey, to be honest I'm not entirely sure. I can PM you the email for the rescue lady I was in touch with if you want. :)

The two I have are more of a sandy brown than a vivid reddy colour like the little guy in the picture. Very curious and stunning looking, all the same.

Even my partner (who said "no more caged pets") quite likes them!

They're these. They have tiny, softer versions of hedgehog spikes down their spine.

My two arrived safely today. (Minus their tails, they presumably lost them in their previous home situation.)

I've named them "Nameva" and "Impuku" which are Afrikaans and Zulu words for thorny and mouse.

A rescue needed homes for some spiny mice and I agreed to take two on. The problem is, their transport can only get as far as Trowell Service Station, and I'm in Derbyshire.

If anyone can help, can they PM me? Thanks. :) (The pick up was planned for this Sunday @ 1pm)
