Tabby is home now, I had her cremated and she is in a wooden sleeping cat memorial. She loved to sleep!   (Had a phone call from vets last week saying she was ready to collect, turned up, got the bag
and casket - tearfully -  went and sat in car, had a look, and it said "Mrs Jones - pet Shep".  Not Tabby. Thankfully she had not been sent back yet, (I was surprised as they said it takes 2 weeks) and this
was only a week later. Poor vet nurse was mortified when I went back in to return Shep  It could only happen to me :)

Thanks everyone, still feeling really sad and got to go back to vets sometime to collect my carrier which I am dreading and then back to collect her when she comes back from the crematorium, prob another week or so. Had a long chat with my vet on Weds night, going through Tabby's blood test results. Her creatinine was sky high at 566 (should be up to 170), urea high at 64 (should be up to 18) phosphate high at 5.84 (should be up to 2.1), her potassium was very high and she was also anaemic red blood cells should be 27-50 and hers were only 16 and she also had a high white cell count, which could either be infection or kidney failure. Her thyroid was just slightly raised, which I thought would be high. So she was really in the final stages of kidney failure. The high potassium can cause heart problems, so I am just hoping she fell asleep and just went quickly and quietly and didn't suffer. I have put the white feather on my shelf with my other cat's caskets and photos, at least I know she is happy and at peace now :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Heather, I am sure it was a sign from her.  I am so sorry for your loss.

When we lost Bruno very suddenly I wished for a sign too.  I did some washing the day after he died - nothing of his, just our usual stuff, and tumble dried the load.  In the fluff compartment of our drier right after the load had finished, right at the front where I could not fail to see it, was a magnificent whisker of his.  I have never found one in the fluff basket before or since.  I love to collect discarded whiskers, so I am sure it was from him xx

You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Rest peacefully, dear Tabby

I do believe in the afterlife and hope to meet up with Tabby again one day as well as all my other cats, horses, rabbits, dogs and pets we have lost over the years. Last night in bed I wished for a sign from Tabby to let me know she was at peace and with her 2 friends Bill & Bessie again.  Would it be a rainbow I wondered or something else? This morning when I woke, right next to me in the same place Tabby used to sleep was a small white feather.  I have heard they symbolise a visit from your pet and that they are happy and at peace. My pillow does not have feathers.  I hope it was from her :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Aw, sorry to hear this, I'd been following her progress on your other thread.

What a long and wonderful life she had, right to the end, going in her own time.

RIP Tabby.

Sadly at the grand old age of nearly 22, Tabby lost her fight for life last night. She was in the vets on a drip overnight but just curled up and went to forever sleep and they found her this morning. She was a feral cat rescued at the age of 8 weeks, lived at the stables with my horses for 18 years and came home for the last few years where she spent hours curled up asleep on my bed by the radiator purring away. The vet is nearly as upset as me.  I am having her cremated and her ashes in a wooden casket so she will be back with me for ever. It is so, so hard when you lose them, I feel bad she wasn't at home with me when she passed but I did everything I could :'( :'( :'(
