And it's great that you have the wisdom not to punish.

Could have been accidental, or anything the others said. Time to worry is if she continues to do it. I had a problem with Zoonie when I first got him, it took a while to get him to use the tray all the time.

Hi Chris and Julie.

As Gill says, getting to the root of inappropriate toileting can be difficult, as a number of things could trigger it.  Did anything change in the household in the immediate time before this happened?  Cats will sometimes per on our belongings because they're stressed and are marking the items which they associate with us.  Personalizing the stuff, helping to reduce the stress.  It may not be immediately obvious to us what it is causes our cats to act this way, so we have to observe keenly our cat's behaviour and note anything which seems different.

She was scared by something, something someone was near the tray, just had an accident, not feeling well...................reasons could be endless but if youare worried speak to a vet.

She is only12 weeks so cant have been with you long and sometimes this happens.

make sure you clean the area well and get rid of any smell. Once dry and smelless try covering with a puppy pad to deter her usingbsame place again.

Do not punish her!

Why did our 12 week old kitten pee on the settee ? She has free access to her tray which is out of the way where it's always been .
