Many of the better quality foods are german. Not sure why but there are few foods available in UK shops that meet my criteria. I believe European standards for pet food are very high. Happy Kitty Company foods now make up the bulk of what I feed (german foods again) but I do like to buy from more than one place. Don't want to become reliant on one company in case it goes bust and I can't find the foods elsewhere. So its HKC, zooplus and some from PAH for me. I buy Applaws/Encore and Tesco Finest from supermarket.

I have today purchased a dry food in pets at home called Aatu. It's single protein source which I like and 85% meat. expensive but I feed such a small amount of dry that it's not really a problem. They do a duck one which is good for me as I'm trying to avoid common allergens (beef, fish and chicken) with Mosi at the moment.

Merlin has Gourmet Perle for breakfast but I try to give dry food for tea to get them crunching. So many foods are low meat/high carb though and heard that is not meant to be good. Purizon says 70% meat and really thought I had cracked it when both loved the trial pack. Just have to try something else on picky Merlin!

Billy tends to be a fussy pussy.

My other cats eat what they were given, no questions asked.

He stays with gourmet and temptations/ dreamies. No good rocking the boat. Otherwise he is a lovely tabby Tom.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to say I got a trial bag for my cats and they loved it so I ordered 3 bags on offer only to find the kibble pieces were a lot bigger and paler than the trial pack and one of my cats no longer wanted to eat it. It is now similar in size to Applaws dry food - which my fussier cat also dislikes

I don't have a problem buying from EU , the countries are all covered by the same regulations. Applaws say they are British but their food is made in Thailand. Most of the things we buy it's not easy to find where they are really made, this is why the horse meat scandal happened . I really think most of the food in UK supermarkets is a rip off and not everyone has a specialist pet store nearby. I've never had a problem with Zooplus their food always has a long use by date. They have lots of choice and you can get small trial packs which are really useful. I don't have a problem with the languages most have English if not I can read a bit of Italian. Any problems I've had they have always been happy to refund or exchange items.

I actually love the choice and fact you can buy food from different countries it makes life more interesting.

Last time I shopped at Ocado they didn't sell James Wellbeloved. I have issues with them at the mo. I usually get our JWB supplies in from Animed which is always a good price and free delivery but might reconsider if 10% discount but wonder how regular orders have to be to qualify. Not a fan of Zooplus here either due to languages. Only mildly irritating but they don't offer other inducements to make up for it.

1.5kg of james well beloved isOnly 51p cheaper than occados pet store . There's also monster pet supplies a uk company who are supplied from james well beloved sell 4kg of james well beloved for 17.90 which is cheaper than zooplus and 10kg is £40.50 which is only 75p more and they do free delivery and a ten percent discount if you order regularly. Royal canin also supply them I always feel reassured when I'm buying food from a online company that the pet food companys officially supply as I know that it hasn't been passed around or lurking in a warehouse for ages. that's just a from a quick check online I'm sure there are other uk companies offering good discounts.I would have excepted a much bigger discount from zooplus considering it was made in a different country. I prefer to pay a little bit more for uk stock this is because its fresher the sell by date is better I know for a fact that the stock hasn't been brought cheap at auction and that the ingredients list isn't going to be in another language. Yes the sell by date on the food from zooplus is ok but its nothing compared to the likes of pets at home my friend ordered some applaws from there once along with a order of almo nature dry and yes the applaws was cheaper but the sell by date was months and months behind the tins sold at pets at home and the tins had a different texture and some of the chicken and rice had no rice or hardly any at all and didn't like the fact that the almo nature had a shorter sell by date and ingredients written in every language but english . She felt really ripped of poor thing and when she rung applaws to complain they told her that those tins aren't meant to be sold in this country but she just put it down to experience and now buys her applaws in bulk 20 tins for the price of 16 which works out cheaper than zooplus and gets her dry from other online shops which sell it for the same amount.

Not tried purizon but I buy James Well beloved from them as it is £5 cheaper per bag. Strange isn't it, James Well beloved is made in England, exported to Germany and £5 cheaper and if you pay the 90p delivery charge for DPD it gets here in 2 days.
Amazon take at least 5 days and most of the others 3 -5.
Just shows how much we are ripped off in this country.

Not for me as I'm a bit old fashioned and cautious and don't really want to try anything that isn't available in uk shops as different countries have different ingredients standards laws on what can be classed as 75% meat etc etc etc and not trying to start a debate but I do wonder why it hasn't hit the uk shops if it really is way ahead of our food and I also wonder why it doesn't cost more lilys kitchen and ziwi peak if it really does have a higher meat content than them . There would be a high demand for pet food that's better than lilys kitchen and ziwi peak as its very popular amongst the middle - upper middle class raw feeders who don't like there pets to eat food with grains in it and the uk retailers would be only to happy to stock it for them and the german and European pet food companies would only be to happy to supply the retailers with it. And you cant say its cheap because its made in another country as it doesn't work like that when quality is involved .

Zooplus are really good, they deliver really quickly & the prices are competitive, they have some great offers. I often get cat litter and food from them & the cats don't really care that the labels aren't in English!

All our wet food comes from Zooplus and the FAGAIL is a great price and the Whiskas food is nicer than the UK stuff and normal Felix comes in better flavours and the sample sachets and tins are very cheap to try, also find food is better quality and this is where my clumping clay litter comes from to good delivery and our driver now knows where it goes makes my life so easy

May try it when I next order from Zooplus, I find them very good and reliable. I ordered some Bozita which has great ingredients but my flaming cats wouldn't look at it

it is now being fed to the hedgehogs.

The only commercial food they will eat is Felix AGAIL or Sensations. They also love raw lamb or steak.... the expensive little monkeys.

tell a lie I have just looked and seen that they sell iams wet food which is what I feed my cats but it's 50p more. I see that the german and European food has a high meat content and is good quality and cheaper than englands version lillys kitchen but it would be a bit of a wild card for me were I have two fuss pots.

They seem to have most of the well know food you can buy in the supermarkets. I actually like the German food it seems way ahead of ours. Although we are catching on to the fact that people want better quality pet foods.

Its not made in the uk purizon dog food is but both the cat and food are manufactured and sold by a German company.

I got some of this from zooplus as a sample pack and my two both love it. I've ordered a big bag so hope they don't go off it. They even prefer it to Applaws. I think it's new as haven't noticed it before and it's make in the UK.
