I've been kind of expecting it for the last year or so with him being an older boy (18ish). Even more so since I had a really strong premonition early in the year that he wasn't going to be with us by Christmas.

He was at the vets on Saturday for a check up after his dental work earlier in the week and everything was fine.

And then his back end went late Sunday evening and he couldn't walk. :-/

I know it's for the best, but it's still heart-breaking.

The vet said that Sam appears to have suffered either a blood clot or slipped disc and for a cat of his age there is very little that they can do apart from keep him comfortable. So this morning he was sedated and went to sleep. He's been buried in the same spot as his best buddy Jack in my parents' garden. :-(

Sam didn't seem to want the biscuits last night or this morning, but I think that's probably him going if I don't eat the biscuits she'll give me meat. He had some wet food to eat last night and this morning, but I haven't seen him drinking.

Legs are still wobbly this morning and he's booked in for 9:30am.

Hope everything is ok with Sam  If I remember correctly Calici Virus can have wobbly legs as a symptom so could be flu related, but obviously a vet check is the way to go.

Munchkin pretty much had a cold from what I understand from the vets. He had his booster shots last weekend and I expect a day of being quiet and feeling sorry for himself, but this continued into Tuesday so he went to the vets as I was concerned. He had a really high temperature, scabby nose due to it being snotty and wasn't happy when being picked up kind of like a human gets achy when sick. He was totally not his usual troublesome self.

Munchkin had a follow up appointment on Saturday and his temperature was back down to 104 and he's much more Munchkin a.k.a. Trouble like.

I'm getting similar vibes from Sam although the wobbly legs is a new thing. Half an hour to go before I can take him to the vets.

Sorry I don't know what Munchkin has but fingers firmly crossed that the vet is able to help Sam today.  Poor lamb

Sam's been asleep all day - even more so than normal. He's also been even grumpier than normal especially when you go to stroke him and when he just got up to go for food, his back legs are very wobbly and he's struggling to walk on them.

We had to take Munchkin to the vets last weekend as he was out of sorts, very quiet and sleepy and when we tried to pick him up, he was very grumpy. Munchkin ended up on Metacam and antibiotic tablets.

Naturally, I'm going to take Sam to the vets in the morning if he's not any better, but I think (hope) that it's the same thing that Munchkin has had.
