Thanks Sue. It's going to be a long haul, but she seems pretty determined, so let's hope she manages it. :)

They've already asked for help from the local CP. They loaned them traps as long as they could; it wasn't long enough. They have applied for a grant from the CP HQ which is pending. Trap transfers are on order. Thanks for your input, Liz. :)

Crush cages would be better than the traps things they can be used again or donated and are safer for the cats to be transferred to the vets and they can be crushed with no damage to cat or vets or assistants - I use my 2 every month for some of the ferals and life is so much easier and they are the same price, I hope she has involved other rescues as  well as 3 traps will tale a long time to get the colony done - most CP or smaller rescues will lend traps and if you ask CP HQ they would help with neutering vouches bringing the cost down to under £30.00 per cat for spay and castrate and the vets will look more favourably on the situation

Update: The lady that contacted me managed to get a gentleman on board who has bought two traps, and with mine that's three. Any donations now will go towards the recommended trap transfer restrainers that it's felt are necessary, a large dog crate, food to bait the traps and flea and worming treatments.

Am hoping to get the transfer restrainers as soon as possible so they can at least get started. :)

Here's a newer photo. The four in the picture on the original post are being kept by the lady who has started trying to trap the rest of them. These five need homes or a rescue space.

(Thank you, Pav. Much appreciated.)

Feral colony needs help....

Before I post this, I just want to say it's not endorsed by Purrs as a forum. This is a project that is being dealt with by a lady I actually went to school with.

"Urgent funds are needed to try and ensure a TNR scheme can be achieved by a young lady in Holmewood, Derbyshire. A feral colony of close to 100 cats desperately needs help.

If you can donate, please inbox the Animal Welfare Fundraising Auction Page on Facebook for bank transfer details or use the Paypal address listed on the page to send funds. The target amount needed is £268 for three traps and three transfer restrainers to be supplied to the cause. You can also email halloweennewt@yahoo.com if you don’t have a Facebook account.

This is a picture of some of the colonies previous kittens. These four were lucky enough to be taken in and socialised so will not endure the same lifestyle as the older cats. Let’s help to make sure the cycle doesn’t continue, and more cats aren’t exposed to the elements with no real home."

(The photos are of some kittens that the lady actually gave a home to - taking her total to seven feline family members, and some kittens she found this week, who she's hoping to socialise so we can try and find homes for them.)
