On Friday if you go through the purrs links page veterinary section, it will track it and earn whoever you choose 5%

I save £8 a box on frontline by buying online, its shocking how much mark up is put on everything!

As others have said please buy it through a rescue link as then they get some money

Flea spray for the cats and the house from pet shops are rubbish and won't work (same goes for wormers) so only buy from your vet or from somewhere reputable like VetUK.

Yup, that's true. You would expect all fleas to have been killed within 24 hours of applying Frontline.

ooh okies, well i get paid on friday so will do it then.

i did use johnsons 4 fleas the other day which appeared to work and they have not scratched as much. but i will still do the house etc

Fluffy, the spray is for the house, get acclaim or indorex, they last 12months and indorex does house mites too.
Frontline spot on is ok for cats 8 weeks plus and over 1kg in weight.

You might want to wait a week from taking his collar off incase the chemicals linger on him, other peeps may know more?

if one cat has fleas the other one will have them too

u need to buy one of the sprays for the house from vets uk as the pet shop ones are a load of old s**t

frontline will be fine too use on both cats
all u need to do is part there fur and put it on the back of their necks

Should be ok - you spray, leave the room for half an hour, then air it, and it's fine to use again.

Although you might have seen onlyone flea, he could be harbouring quite a few more! Plus even one can lay eggs! Part his fur, especially on his tummy, and you may spot 'flea dirt' - little black specks close to his skin - that's a sure sign of fleas.

if u bought a 6 pack for 15 quid that would last them 3 months

if u are finding fleas u need to treat ur whole house and all there bedding etc for fleas
u can buy a spray can on vets uk

or if the problem is bad ur local council will do it for u for a tenner

You don't need to go to the vet for Frontline - you can order it from a number of reliable places on t'internet, and its cheaper that way, too! This is the cheapest site I found, and it turned up in 2 days!

I don't have collars on my boys. Even the dog doesn't wear 1. I use a halter type thing on him when I take him for a walk.He used to wear 1 but I got fed up with his tags clanking against his metal bowls when he's drinking or eating.His tags are now on his halter.

I agree, also if a bell is worn for wildlife protection purposes, the tinkle needs to be quite loud to be effective and cats claws have been known to get trapped in a bell.

Flea collars only tend to keep the flea away from the neck part of the cat.
As Lisa has said, use Frontline spot on instead and ditch the collars

flea collars arent a good idea anyway
they dont work and can cause irritation to the cat ,
my mum bought one for one of our cats years n years ago
i never have or never would use one myself i think they r a very old fashoined way of treating fleas , a spot on like frontline or stronghold is a much more effective way to prevent and treat fleas and there not as expensive as most people first think for example u can get a 6pk of frontline on vets uk for 15 quid and something pence

Yep, I agree.

Which is why I specified "in my area." My neighbours directly either side know my cats, but the area I live in isn't particularly community spirited! I know some of the cats by name on the road I live,though!

Yeah, I was a bit worried about that too, but it turns out that most of my neighbours have lived here for years, most are cat-friendly, and most know which cat lives with which people! A lot of them even know all their names! And as Ela pointed out, some stray cats are ignored if they are wearing a collar, and most people would report a 'stray' to the vets, CP or RSPCA, all of which have scanners. I think it all depends on your individual circumstances and weighing up the pros and cons in light of them.

Oh yes! Definitely microchipped - wouldn't let them outside at all if not! I have been using the kittycollars, but unfortunately with two of my lot they come off a bit too often! However, they don't come undone (at least, the ones I have found) which suggests that the safety catches may not be all that safe! When I took Sabby's off him it was quite a struggle to undo it - or maybe I had sausage fingers at the time lol!

Well, ever since Ela and one or two others have mentioned it, I have been thinking long and hard about whether or not to keep my kitties in collars. It has always been a little niggle in the back of my mind that maybe they might get caught on something and that the safety catch may not work; but I'm also concerned that if they don't wear collars they won't easily be seen if they stray into the road at night. But AFAIK, *touch wood*, none of them appear to ever go onto the road/pavement, but stay at the back where all the allotments and gardens are. So ... the collars are off! Oh, it's lovely to be able to stroke them without that pesky collar in the way! And they look so much nicer without them, too!
