Thanks Nicky, Stronghold also doesnt need the flea to bite but also does earmites which Sasa sometimes gets.

Gill, this is what it says on their website.

A. Many spot-on products remain on the surface of the pet. Fleas take up these products when they jump onto a treated animal either by mouth or through their surface (called the cuticle). Fleas do not need to suck blood for the product to start working. Consult the product label for more information.

I'm going to ask my vets about it, worried to give Wordy advocate after him being so poorly, it may have been nothing to do with that, but it is a powerful product.

My question is, how does it get inside the flea? Do they have to bite?

New Flea Treatment - Activyl

I have just received a card from my vets informing me that that they stock Activyl.

Activyl

Activyl Spot-On Solution is a new kind of flea treatment that delivers benefits beyond excellent flea control. Activyl is the first treatment to work by "metabolic activation" or bioactivation and will only become active once it is inside the flea. This means Activyl is highly selective for fleas and minimises unnecessary chemical exposure to pets, humans and their environment. However, Activyl does much more than just kill adult fleas. It is also effective against all developing stages of the flea life cycle and will even prevent eggs developing into larvae.   http://www.bioactivation-in-fleas.co.uk/

Has anyone tried it yet?

It is a prescription only medication and is currently on sale at VioVet for £11.96  http://www.viovet.co.uk/Prescription_Drugs-Prescription_Drugs_A_-_C-Activyl/c1_31_9907/category.html

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.
