Just posted on Catchat, but thought I'd post some more on Brownie here too. It's so good to be on both forums and amongst people like you who love their cats so much. I'm hurting so much at the moment and it doesn't take much to set me off blubbing! But I'll write some more...
Brownie lived in the garden until just over 7 weeks ago, although he had his meals here and lots of cuddles! I was reluctant to let him mix with the 3 other indoor cats though as the boy puss in particular is a bit jealous of other cats and a diabetic who tends to get ill if stressed. The 3 are a Mum, brother and sister actually. Anyway, it was in February when I noticed a nasty abscess on Brownie's face and promptly took him to the vets. He suspected FIV so I decided to have him tested, and sure enough he had it. So I decided to keep him in my bedroom and a pen in the garden, so he could still have a bit of outdoors when it was sunny. We've had some nice sunny days recently too. The abscess healed after 2 antibiotic treatments. Then he started to get weak on his legs and had a lump on his neck. This time cancer was suspected. Vet talked about PTS, but I didn't want to give up on Brownie as he was pretty happy with his new lifestyle. Then he caught a dreaded cold on Wednesday night and had trouble breathing with this and the lump. He slept beside me on Wednesday and Thursday night. We were both so happy cuddling together.
He lost his brave battle yesterday though and passed away in my arms. Such a brave gorgeous boy who I loved so much!
