Thanks Sheila that is brilliant.

Amazing how that wasnt reported on the news unlike what was said the day before, renews my faith in the petition system and so sad that most of the public are unaware of how it all works.

Thanks for posting that Sheila - makes me feel a lot better too.

Sometimes I think we've never lost that urge to destroy, rather than to find ways to live in peaceful co-existence

Yeah - I noticed that too Gill - they said there were "too many badgers" and "badger numbers were higher than they thought to make it viable this year" and there wasn't a mention of the fact over 100,000 signatures had justified this matter for debate in parliament.  Makes my blood boil.  They could vaccinate, and whilst it would be ab ig job, surely not much more than the hassle of having to trap or shoot the badgers would be in any event?

I note that the paer speaks about the petition and not that in the commones and on news it didnt and thought that over 100k signatures made this have to be rethought in the house.

Maybe they just didnt show that bit but the excuse is pityful, keep on signing the petition

Thats brilliant, well done that Council.

I agree that the farmers need to start looking at their own practices cos science says that a cull would do little to improve the situation

Hot off the press, I am so excited.

Forest of Dean council voted 30:1 against the cull on their land :narna dance:

We do feel sorry for farmers but.....

Why can't they act on the FACT that poor farming practise leads to TB. If they followed the advice given by Steve Jones, who has never had TB in all his years looking after herds, it would practically eliminate it :pull hair:

Glos Against Badger Shooting said today that Farmers are on the run and very worried so they are putting out pro cull posters and the likes on FB etc :(

Don't they vaccinate people against TB.?

Yes, and our jabs last a lifetime. The blurbs on the radio last week-end tried to say the badger vaccinations needed to be repeated every year. How much is true? So many contradictions must raise enough questions to push the cull back.

Are they saying farmers are driven to suicide because of the loss of income?

The pro cull representatives really don't seem to know what they are talking about. They always seem to mention that it's going to stop the badgers suffering. When most of the badger don't even have TB.

Don't they vaccinate people against TB.?

I saw it too  >:( No mention of the compensation those farmers got from the Crown for their loss, though.

I know TB is a terrible disease, and that the badgers also suffer once it takes hold, but these drastic culling measures cannot be measured so there could never be an adequate report on their effectiveness. Too much too early. They need to seal off an area and try a raft of measures over a period of years then measure the effectiveness under controlled conditions before they can even justify.

Somebody on the radio the other day said a badger TB vaccination was being researched that could be introduced orally in food. Oh but this would need substantial testing before it could be tried  :-: :-: :-: >:(

Dual bloody standards. Give an idiot a gun, tell some lies about statistics then cover up the mess they leave behind. Sounds like politics to me.  :shify:

It's great that so many influential and credible celebrities are actually reading the science and seeing no sense in the current plans.

Now standing at 122, 000 so this has really kick started and the more publicity the more signatures.

Hope fully this will be enough to stop the cull

BBC news had an article on their website suggesting it may be stopped due to the high numbers of signatures - supposedly after a certain amount it needs debated in parliament. I'm on my phone so can't add the link but great development...not as good as it stopping though!

I think Team Badger are hoping the debate will be before the cull starts. If not I think there may be outrage

Anyone who hasn't signed please do and ask you friends. It's now up to nearly 92,000 so only 8,000 more and the government will have to debate the issue.

Thank you All for your support

I think people are beginning to talk and ask questions which is brilliant.

The petition has over 50,000 signatures and once it is at 100,000 the Gov have to look at things again.

I think bisecurity, good farming practise and vaccination will be the way forward
