The kittens are doing really well now, playing, jumping, hide and seek in different boxes and baskets. Gaining weight steadily too. The kittens will soon be looking for their new homes, as they are 8 weeks old this afternoon.
We have had it confirmed that the black cat we took in over the last Jubilee holiday period will probably be blind for the foreseeable future (that doesn't sound right!). He has vestibular syndrome. He is a lovely young man, black shorthaired, fair size. So he will need a quiet home where folk do not move the furniture too much, and not too many mad things going on either.
Lizzie who we also took in when she was brought in by a member of the public,to a local vets. The lady had been feeding her for 3 or 4 days. She had to have her leg amputated as it was an old injury, not necessarily thought to be an rta, but not known how it had happened. The lady who had been feeding her for 3 or 4 days was not local to our area, and seemed to think she had been like it all the time she had been feeding her. The vet said she felt sick when she spotted the extent (and age) of the injury.
Hence the reason we were called asking us if we could take her in, together with her £409 at that time vet bill!
She has just had her first vaccination, now she is feeling better, and will be spayed next month. We think she is only a young cat. The first vet said around 2, another one said he would put her age in months rather than years. She definitely needed to put on some weight, which she has now done, and now we will be maintaining her at that level, so we do not strain her remaining 3 legs.
My wrists are mostly better now, although I have found another patch on my left inside wrist at the moment. I know it will go soon though.
