How old is your lil bruiser and is she neutered?

Some cats just will not tollerate being indoors and I have one, luckily she is 12 now and little short legs and scared or people and traffic so I am forced to leave the flap open. Misa tends to stay in at night but he does go hunting but he is also scared of people and traffic and now 10yrs old.

When I adopted my two boys I was hoping they would be indoor cats but it became clear that Algie in particular would not be happy as an indoor only cat so now they are allowed a few hours outside but not at night. Algie does play up sometimes wanting to go out at night, but a few firm No's and a bit of distraction or just plain ignoring him and he soon gives up. Previously I have had cats that have had 24/7 access, but between road fatalaties and having to get up at all hours chasing various species of rodents, sometimes several times a night, these two are on curfew.

we have catproofing so the flap is open all the time but when I need it shut for vets or whatever I always lock it and put something in front of it

Answer no ours are not out at night and I spend several hours rounding up my 30 indoor/outdoor kids

Distraction works and have to say ours know when we say No we mean it

My rescue cat is a bit of a bruiser for such a cute little fluff ball.

so far we have been keeping her in at night as i dont want her to get in too many scraps and/or get hit by a car.

the problem is, she wants to be out! she meows and paws at her locked catflap.

the questions i have are:

a) should i let my cat out at night

b) do you let your cats out at night?

c) have you found any good ways to teach you cats when the cat flap is locked?

any help would be much appreciated
