:thanks: Sam, I just feel so low and empty just now and cant face anyone, I've never left the house since Thursday.  She was a lovely wee character, shy and timid and loved other cats. My other cat Mia who is her sister was def the boss and wee Mitz just accepted the pecking order. I just wish I could hold her again and have one more cuddle but thats something I'll have to overcome. :(

Hello Nick and   :welcome:  to the forum

So sorry that you have joined us under such sad circumstances

Condolences to you over the loss of Mitzy - I know the pain believe me, I lost my Spotty to cancer in April and although it still hurts at times I can look back on Spotty's  life and remember the good times that he had and I can tell by your posts that Mitzy was lucky to have you to look after her because not all cats are that fortunate.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss :( She sounds like a real wee character and was so much loved.
I know so well the feeling and the lump in your throat and the 'what if' questions you ask yourself but time helps a little and as it passes you look back and smile at the memories of a love and life shared. She was a lucky kitty to have you.
No decision made from love is ever wrong. She knew that she was loved and it is the greatest gift of all to give them rest when they need it most. Play well at the bridge Mitzy x

Thankyou all so much for your kind words, they mean so much to me. I lost my last cat Trudy about 13 years ago and forgot how raw the pain feels! Am hoping that everyday I'll feel that wee bit stronger because I know I took her pain to let her be pain free! I still have my Mia and will treasure everyday with her.  What a lovely poem  The Greatest Gift is, the tears were streaming when I read it. :(

Hi and welcome to Purrs.

Sady most of of us on this board know the grief and guilt you feel when a beloved pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge - unfortunately, it's part and parcel of loving these gorgeous creatures. You'll be feeling very raw at the moment but you will feel better in time, although you'll never forget Mitzy.

Sending you

She sounds a character and it sounds liek you were blessed to have her and her you.
People that look at you like your crazy have just never known the true experience of opening your whole heart to a pet and have them do it back. It is something wonderful and heartbreaking soemtimes at the same time. You'll get through it and one day like helen says you'll find your self laughing at a memory  and it wont seem so dark anymore. dont let people tell you how you should feel, feel whatever you need to feel she was your special furbaby. Im only new to cats so havent said goodbye to any but when my dog becky died i didnt get out of bed for three days, its perfectly natural to grieve for a loss.

im sending Mia get well vibes as strong as i can

Thankyou! Maybe one day when this pain eases I will tell you all about her, she was a lovely shy wee thing and picked her friends very carefully. Only a few people ever got close to her and that she would allow to stroke her. Just feels unreal just now and a feel so numb!

Thank you Sarah_Jane, a just feel so guilty and confused, a loved her so much and am toiling with this grief. Some people just look at you like your crazy when they see how upset you are and you tell them its about your cat. A still have her sister Mia who has heart disease so am worried sick about her as well, the joys of loving our cats!!

Welcome to Purrs Nick, sorry it's under such sad circumstances

You will certainly find people here that understand how you feel, while it seems like a cliche saying it and it feels like it could never be possible, things do get easier until eventually you can look back and remember the happy times instead of the overwhelming sadness that she is no longer here

When you feel able it would be lovely to hear a bit more about Mitzy, she was obviously a very special girl to you

The Greatest Gift

I always knew this time would come,
From the very instant our eyes first met.
How I loved you then! How I love you now!
I made a promise then, and I will keep that promise now...
You will not suffer from a pain that will not heal;
You will not know the loss of a life remembered, now gone.

It is for me alone to make this decision,
The price for the bright joy and pure laughter
You brought me during the time we shared.
I am the only one who can decide when it is time.
When my hope dies, and my fear rides high,
Just when I need you most, I must let you go.

It is for you alone to tell me when you are ready
For without your guidance, I will not know
When to lay my grief, my guilt, my anger
My sorrow and my selfish heart aside
And give you this last gift, this greatest gift.
Your eyes will speak to mine, and I will know.

The pain of this moment is excruciating.
Tears stream down my face in a river of sorrow.
And my heart drowns in a pool of grief.
For you have spoken and I have listened,
And unlike other decisions I have made
This one brings no relief...no comfort...no peace.

For if there´s one thing you´ve taught me,
If there´s only one thing I´ve learned...
Unconditional love has a condition after all,
I must be willing to let you go, when you speak to me
I must be willing to help you go, if you cannot go alone.
And I must accept my pain so you can be free of yours.

Go easily now, go quickly now,
Do not linger here, it is time for you to leave.
Go find your strength, go find your youth.
Go find the ones who've gone before you.
You are free to leave me now, free to let your spirit soar
Rest easy now, your pain will soon be gone.

I pray I will find comfort in my memories...
In the dark and lonely days ahead.
I cannot say I will not miss you, I cannot say I will not cry.
For only my tears can heal my broken heart.
But, I promise you this; as long as I live,
You will live, alive in my mind, forever in my heart.

So I give you this last gift, all I have left to give,
And this will be my greatest gift...sending you away.
It is the measure of my unconditional love...
For only the greatest love can say,
"Good-bye, go find the bridge, we'll meet again,
Loving you has been the greatest gift of all."

Forever and Always... Until Rainbow bridge....

Hi am new to all this, am feeling really low, just had my wee cat Mitzy put to sleep yesterday. She was on vidalta for her thyroid and it damaged her blood. She had no red cells left and wasnt regenerating any new ones, she had stopped eating and was very poorly. A feel so sad and will never get over this loss. am just looking to speak to other cat lovers because no one understands how am feeling :(
