My wonderful boy George, who had suffered all his life with his major heart condition, Tetralogy of Fallot, passed away yesterday - his heart could not go on anymore.
He had been a little poorly for a while, but being partly feral, he was easily stressed with vet visits and even fussing him caused him to have a bit of a fit, so he was left quiet and calm and I basically kept a close eye on him. I suppose I knew his time was near but I am pleased he went peacefully at home, with Forest, his best friend with him and did not have to endure a visit to the hospital, I know what would have scared him beyond belief.
He came to me at eight weeks of age with feline cowpox virus and then was basically my first failed rescue when it was found he had the major heart problems and I knew it would be difficult to find someone to take on a cat with such problems.
He was diagnosed with a life of expectancy of approx 6 months to three years max but he was over 6 years old. He was always a nervous cat and made me cry the one and only time he volunteered to jump up and sit on my lap.
I love you my George and will miss you more than words can say.
Play all those games you couldn't down here with a healthy heart at the Bridge.
