Poor Ella, and poor you - I can understand why you're so worried after losing Effie but I'm sure Ella will be fine in a few days.

They're such a worry sometimes aren't they

We always keep a few tins of tuna in spring water for emergencies..............  A few spoonfuls of the juice in her water may encourage her to drink?  Is she eating?

Poor girl............ hope she picks up soon  :care:

Sorry to hear this, I hope she perks up overnight. Poor little girl. Could it be a delayed reaction to you coming back from holiday? Is she sensitive like that?

He did say I should keep her hydrated, she is in the room with water but how do you make her drink!? (sounds like cliche!)

Any tips helpful, I am going out of my mind with worry!

The vet will have known if she was dehydrated so don't worry too much as if she was badly dehydrated he would have kept her in  If she is eating you can add a slosh of water to her food, Riley wasn't eating or drinking at all, my vet said about syringing water into his mouth but he really wouldn't accept it so when I took him back that's when he had to stay overnight on a drip.

I know how frightening it is when they go downhill suddenly but she is young and otherwise healthy so I'm sure she'll be back to normal before too long

A drip is best if shes really bad but I have given water to Amber via a syringe before now to help with cystitis.
I do hope shes ok and well again soon

I agree with Helen, if he is dehydrated badly she needs to be on a drip.

I hope she gets sorted quickly

Poor baby :care: Did the vet mention trying to keep her hydration levels up? Riley had something similar last year, I went to work and he was fine and came back to find hiim lethargic and obviously very poorly. I took him straight to the vets and they let me bring him home but I had to take him back the next day and he ended up staying overnight on a drip as he was so dehydrated. Not trying to scare you, just trying to show how important it is that she is kept hydrated

Hope she startes to perk up soon

Ella is poorly :(
« Reply #1 on: July 09, 2011, 19:57:15 PM »
When we got up yesterday we found some piles of sick and to be honest I thought it was hairballs but when we got home last night she was very quiet. Today she was really lethargic and we found a couple more piles of sick, so we took her to the vets. She hasn't eaten or drunk and is very dehydrated. On Wednesday she brought a bird home and the vet thinks that the bird have have already been dead and that she may have cat food poisoning. (This is Ella's second bird and I have joked that she would only catch a bird she it was already dead or the bird was blind, deaf and lame - little did I know how right I was!)

He gave her two injections and said we should monitor her overnight. After Effie, I have been in tears and climbing the walls. As we were waiting for the vet Sean and I were really upset. I hope she gets better.

In other news Archie also came to us to the vets and he is now big enough for his **whistles so he is booked in for the 27th! We took him to be chipped before our holiday and he wasn't "man" enough but it's happening now!

Edit: Well I had to pause this message as there was amassive thud upstairs. i ran up and Ella was dazed on the carpet. She had been sat on the window sill so I thinks she fell on the floor  :'(
