I think it's probably a spay scar and I'm pretty sure now it is the cat that belongs to one of the flats in another block.  I'm a little concerned that she seems to be shut out at night and tends to hang around the flat in the mornings until the window is opened to let her in but not much I can do about that.  I'll keep an eye out.

It depends on the vet - my last one had the scar on t'other side and I was told the vet was left handed

Or does it vary depending on the vet?  Never having had a female cat, I have no idea!

There's a little black and white cat outside that I think lives in one of the flats in another block.  She has just run back with what at first I thought was a ginger patch of hair but on closer inspection seems to be bald patch.  If it's the cat I think it is, she is def more than 6 months old but still a young cat so could have been recently spayed.  It is situated on cat's right side but quite high up.
