I had 2 local radio interviews wednesday. In both I said on the sliding scale of 'cruelty' this was very low - for instance we have a spate of bb gun deaths here and it doesn't compare. It would have been worse had it been bin day or the bin just disinfected with Jeyes fluid or something but it wasn't and the cat is well.

I also went on to say what is more cruel and not even considered cruelty as such is the numbers of owners who are not neutering or innoculating thier cats which ultimately results in the sort of thing I've been going through (and all other rescues) in the past few weeks. Think how many cats and kittens die horrible deaths because of that!

I don't think it's a 'pathetic little story' at all, if the horrific story that you describe had been captured on CCTV and shown to the nation then the public outcry would be the same if not worse. As for the other atrocities that are going on in our world, well yes I can feel anger/pity that they are taking place too. Caring about animals and people isn't mutually exclusive  :shy:

The 'cat in a bin' story isn't really about Lola, or the evil woman who chucked her away like a piece of rubbish but more about taking a stand against people who are cruel to animals.

As for the article, I think it's tongue in cheek and designed to create a reaction.

I quite like that article; dont for one minute think the writer is condoning cruelty. I read it more as someone like me who is sick to the back teeth of watching pathetic little stories getting so much publicity and causing so much outrage, while in the real world thousands of peoples lives have been devastated by floods (and animals too), miners are trapped below ground with no hope of rescue for many weeks, young men are off to war many never to return others to leave arms and legs behind.
Sorry I feel for the cat but all this publicity is doing is encouraging copy cat crime while RSPCA rake in money, in a real case of 5 kittens put in a bin which was emptied into a wagon, they didnt want to know, the bin men cried along with me as we rummaged through the muck rescuing 3 tiny kittens and found 2 bloodied crushed corpses.
Just maybe suitable containers for unwanted animals might be a good idea.
