I just telephoned Petguard. Nice and helpful but not appropriate for me.
Whilst they will carry on insuring a cat already on their books after age 10, they will not cover cats older than 10 years from day 1. Axa do not have an age limit.
Also excess increases to the higher of £60 or 15% of claim on reaching 8 years old. Axa's excess does not increase with age although I do wonder how long this will last
Am a bit surprised that peeps are a little against Axa on other pet forums and hope they are not going downhill. Whilst I'm sure they have room for improvement on some of their paperwork, I think they offer good value for money on the policies we have. In fact I've been dithering over cancelling our policies for ages as we've been building up a "cat fund" but so far think the peace of mind we get for what we pay is still worthwhile. Certainly Freddie's will continue with his marginally dodgy blood results
