Freddie's age was set at 5 when he came from RSPCA and had to have all but 2 teeth removed so who knows

Well to be honest its just after when he came from CP and was told aged 4yrs............I am sure they were originally insured from late July but with all the chopping and changing insurance I reinsured all 4 in late October.

) but he couldn't find anything. In any event I checked bank account and monthly premium paid for July so must be OK

Rosella - they send you out paperwork automatically about 4 weeks before the policy is due to expire, and is automatically continued unless you physically cancel, so it should still be valid.

I didn't bother mentioning my six Gill as they are all youngsters (under 10 years old).

Noni and Billy renewed late Spring, Dinah and the girls last February and no big hikes so this year and all £50 excess still. Fred renews in October aged 9 and he's our oldest would you believe

Am grateful for this thread to remind me to check on renewal date for mom's cat Susan though as looks like we may have missed renewal in June. I'll investigate later this week

I just went on to do a quote for Hobbes as he isn't currently insured (I know I'm a bad meowmy

) His came out at £78.27 with a £50 excess and £69.97 with a £75 excess - he's only 3 though.

I got a drop down box which still gave me the option of selecting a £50 excess, could also have £75 and £100. I would hope that if they are offering this to new customers they would honour it for existing ones. It still gives the £7k per year too.

I did one on Direct Line too which is £6k per condition and it came out at £108.24 with a £70 excess - choice of £70 or £140 - so Axa still looking like a great deal.

All my policys went up a few pence last year despite Frantas big claims but they honoured the £50 excess, so it will be great if they do still.

I have 3 boys and 2 of them are pedigrees aged 17 in Aug and pay about double for thise two over the others, so just under £20 a head.

I think Rosellas policy renews just before mine for Freddie and Billy

If its an existing policy they should honour your excess agreement, I know with Max's policy the excesses had gone up to £75 I think, but we only paid the £50 each time per condition.

I think on Poot's policy its now £75, which was taken out nearly a year ago.

Gill - I wouldnt worry about your renewal, I am paying the same for Molly as I was last year, despite having put in a £200 claim, and it seems that the cats on the old excesses are being honoured, as she is still down as a £50 excess. I did ring AXA and they said that males are more expensive to insure (I assume cos of the cost of blockages, which females rarely get, and poss more risk of fighting).

It has only changed in the past couple of weeks though, as my friend just insured her 13yo female for about £13 - she only lives round the corner, so should be in the same postcode band. Must ask her what her excess is though.

Will do a new post about the new arrival at some point (prob when he gets here, as I have no pics till then, and it would be pointless without them!!)

Mine doesnt renew until late October and this doesnt sounf good. i only have a £50 excess with AXA at present and £100 is way over the top.

I have two cats ill at present and Misa is going to have to go back to the vets tomorrow cos seems to be getting worse.........sigh

Gooey is £180 a year with axa, the others are with petplan and are around the £120 mark. Have you tried new quotes for the girls to compare whats changed?

To be honest I don't actually think that premium is too bad for a 13 year old, especially given their Axa's level of cover. A 13 yr old cat is probably just as likely to develop kidney/thyroid probs as your 17 and 20 yr olds so their 'risk' is near on the same. £100 excess isn't great but I don't have insurance for the £50 abcess bills, it's more for the broken leg/kidney disease side of things. If the first £75 of treatment wasn't covered in the past then an extra £25 isn't going to break the bank and at least the next £7000 will be covered. That said for the sake of 20p a month it's worth upgrading to the £75 excess.

You could have a problem if one of them develops a condition before Sept as it means that another insurer wont cover them for it.

I have heard that Tesco only pay for one year of a condition though, and that they dont pay out that much per condition - I want the highest possible, which seems to be AXA at the moment, £7k

I shopped around last year for My 2, I went with Tesco in the end. This years is a little cheaper, only pence though. I only pay £8ish a month total. But they are only 1 years old. My excess is £50.

I am getting a new cat, so went online to get a quote - they have recently changed the way they calculate premiums, and also their excess. A 13yo male with their standard £100 excess was coming up at £15.71 - I pay £15.83 for the girls, Molly is 17.5, Zia is 20. You can reduce the excess, but obviously that increases your premium. I changed his to £75 though, so I pay £15.91 (which is more than the girls!!) - and I should have a discount on that as I already have two cats insured through them. Sainbury's have also changed their forms, and look similar to AXA's, but they were coming out at £18.08!!
