Hi All, our Garfield went out in the storms on Tuesday night for 4 hours, its not like him to leave the garden so we started to worry, after some searching in the down pours we could not find him and decided to leave the kitchen window open for him to come back in.
he came back in at around 11pm soaked to the skin from the rain but also covered in blood, we frantically panicked as we could not tell where he was bleeding from, he was in shock and looked dazed. we wrapped him up in a warm towel to dry him off a little, after 15 minutes or so he stopped trembling and thats when we noticed that he was bleeding from one side of his mouth, it appeared that a chunk of the side of his mouth was misssing, we cleaned this up the best we could but he just wanted to sleep in the corner on his own.
After a sleepless night worrying my mum took him to the vets yesterday morning (Wednesday) and the vet had confirmed that she was certian that the injurys were from a human as two of his side teeth had been chipped badly..... we thought initially that maybe he had been in a fight with another animal.
he was given a thorough check up and a antibiotic injection and also a pain relief injection, he is back at the vets in the morning for a second check up to see how he is getting on.
he has been moping around alot and sleepy and also very quiet.
The vet has told us that he has been very lucky not to have a broken jaw!
who could do such a thing to an animal that cannot defend themselves.
Hopefully he is on the mend and will be back to his demanding ways again soon, i just hope he heals well as his mouth looks like he has had a stroke at the moment.
