Any chance of talking to your neighbour and asking if they could put some mesh or something just at the top of the fence on their side (as your property is rented and they own theirs) and say you will pay half?

Tbh water is the best bet imo. Blast them with a few good shots and make them know they are not welcome. They probably had the run of your garden as well as their own prior to you moving in and so they think it all belongs to them. Good luck.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Could you get next door to do some kind of 'time share', ie she only lets her cats out at a certain time of the day, so that your  and the rest of the  neighbourhood  know when it's safe and when it's not, to let your cats out?

Probably not possible, but might be worth a try.

Cat proofing isnt really an option. The fence is about 6ft high as it is but climbable. Its a rented flat and next door own theirs. No contest really. My two dont really get out unless i am around so il just have to watch out for them! With my water pistol in hand  :evillaugh:

I have absolutely no problem squirting next doors cat when she gets hissy at ours in their own garden. I also believe cats will figure things out for themselves, but refuse to watch my cats be victimised in their own outside space.

Cat proofing isn't really possible for me, or I'd consider it. ;)

Upgrade your water spray thing to a super soaker style water pistol, if neighbour wont work with you to keep her thugs in then you really have no option but to become security for your garden. Im not saying soak the cats by anymeans but iv always found water aimed near by is enough to deter.
I assume cat proofing the yard is out of the question?

I now live in a basement flat where my 2 cats now can be let out into our wee garden. Its great! My bedroom looks out into the garden and i can open my window on a warm day and sit on my bed and have the cats go in and out as they please.

They have come across next doors cats once or twice. When we moved in the lady next door said that her 2 like to chase other cats and be generally big bullies! I said thats ok, they will sort themselves out and i will encourage my 2 to stay in my garden and not go over the fence.

After one or 2 scraps my 2 have found peace by pottering about my garden. They know now to not go over the fence. But those two big bullies are now coming over my fence to chase my two around my garden and back into the house. So they are now not even allowed to go into their own back garden.

I got quite annoyed! I have a water spray thing that i spray the 2 bullies with if i am around and they chase my two, but i dont feel its fair that my 2 have learned to stay in their part of the garden but those 2 still chase them.

I know cats are cats but i dont want mine to be stuck in doors because of them. At the moment my window is open and the sun is shining but my two are sitting in my room, too scared to go out as they were chased in not 5 minutes ago by the two other cats who are now sitting on the fence waiting for them to come out again  :censored:
