I'll give her a go on a harness, maybe she could come walkies with the dogs!!

She hasnt been too bad today, fingers crossed she will stay like this!!

Maybe you could train her to use a harness and then when she looks like she wants to go out you could take her out for a little stroll around the garden and back inside again?

Its certainly not an easy situation, shame theres no other suggestions yet, must be others in the same boat with communal space

She will be 1 on saturday.

She is climbing up to the small opening windows now and then when she cant get a grip she falls off landing awkwardly sometimes, how she hasnt hurt herself I dont know.

Maybe I should just give in, and let her have her freedom, dont want her to be unhappy

Only other alternative is rehoming her to a place in the middle of nowhere so she can have the freedom she craves. This would break my heart and im sure Oscar would miss her too.

Why do they have to be so different, Oscar has absolutley no interest in the outdoors!!

A tricky situation, how old is she now?
Some would let them take their chances and be happy but im not sure i could, the worry would make me mad, id rather let go completely.

There must be things to try, being communal makes it tricky but there must be some suggestions to be had...

My 1st cat was outdoor and she lived to be 26 and died of old age.

My 2nd cat went missing and she was in a RTA miles away from home on a country lane. I always feared a RTA cos I live on a busy corner where SOME people drive like maniacs and don't look out for kids, cats or adults.

My 3rd cat - got her from RSPCA whilst my 2nd cat was missing and I said if she screamed to go out I would let her but thank God she's never wanted to go out.  After Smudge going missing I didn't want to go through the heartache again. I take Bonnie into my back garden now and again for some grass and a little smell around and that's it.  I'm having part of it cat proofed this year so she can sit outside with me in the sun and get soem fresh air.

We dont have a private garden, we are in a ground floor flat which has shared gardens all the way round.

This is such a hard one, she has had a taste of the outside now and obviosly wants to be oiut there. Every time you leave a window open she is going to make a break for it but cant get back in.

Dont know what to advise, sorry. Only you know the situation in your area and if you have lost two cats already out there, it does not sound good for a cat.

Can you cat proof or make a cat run in the back garden?

We were stood in the kitchen on saturday and we could hear meowing outside the window, looked down and there is Tia!!!

She must have pushed the bathroom window open and got out that way, we let her in the lounge window and she had some food then went to sleep.

Then on sunday she did the same, and we retrieved her again.

Today she is roaming round meowing and climbing up at the windows which are now shut, she obviously wants to go out, but i really dont want either her or Oscar to be outdoor cats. he shows no interest in the outdoors. Am i being cruel keeping her in, after stories of RTA's on here i would be worried sick ever second she was out, we live in a cul-de-sac but there is a busyish 'B' road to the back of us.

I have lost 2 ginger tom cats (neutered) here in the past years, both just disappeared.
