to be honest I don't know if they are or not. They haven't been taking any other pedigree cats since June last year.Myself and someone else where asked to re home the ones left on their books which we have done. But these two are still left to re home. They are still with a foster carer in leeds.

 Poor Kato. I'm sure he will get better  :Luv2: - great that the potential adopters aren't put off.

Animula rest assured that rescues dont make profit on their cats so wouldnt show their bills to prove this, most will come in with lapsed vaccinations, need de matting, dentals, chipping and blood tests. Have you ever run a cat through a UK vet for the above treatments? Its alot more costly here, being in london im sure you will have noticed that!

I doubt the price is why they are still looking, other older cats have been homed since if you look back you will see them all.
I find the whole thing quite offensive. If cats were priced depending on how much was spent on them, does  this mean that cats that have needed surgery or other expensive treatment have no hope of being rehomed? - I'm sure the average cat has more than £90 spent on it anyway. If people are out to make a buck, rescue isn't the place to do it - otherwise we wouldn't have had 2 people standing out all day long on Saturday in the junior school car park relying on donations for parking to get a 50% cut of the £150 taken (the school gets 1/2) - As for showing bills to prove how much has been spent  - rescues have better things to do than justify why they are asking for a reasonable donation.

I think I was just thinking aloud what may be the reason the cats have not found a home... and I think that most people will rather but a kitty for 300 pound than 10 year old cat for 90, its sad but I think that is realistic.
As I mentioned, I have worked in rescue for 3 years, and as I like to say, I have learnt a lot about cats and a lot about people thanks to this as well.. And I think I know very well how the vetcare works or can work for rescue cats, which is exactly the reason why I would always want to see the bills, and know the exact extention of vetcare the cats have received.

Everyday the cats spend in the 'temporary home' they cost a lot of money, so I think there should be rational steps taken in getting them a new home - reducing the fees if you take the couple may be one of those. As I said, I would want to see the bills, since I am sure the cats were vaccinated and neutered before they came, then I would like to know what the real costs were and would be happy to cover those as a new owner. Otherwise I feel like buying a cat, and thats not what I think is right.

Sorry for posting here, the thing just won't let me send a private message  no idea why... have a good evening  :)

I take fully what you say on board however I can not make the decision on the amount the adoption fee should be as this is set out by the charity. I am just a volunteer that helps to re home the cats in the UKRCC and have done for many years now.Sadly the charity closed to re homing in june which is a great lost as they saved so many ragdolls and other pedgiree cats.I promised to help re home the last of the ragdolls and other pedgiree cats on their list to be re homed and its just these two and another ragdoll called Lilly that are left to re home now. I can tell you that my personal view on the amount the adoption fee is that it is a good price.Working in rescue for many years and being involed heavily behind the scenes of the UKRCC  I can tell you that most of the time £90 does not cover the price of the care of the cats. When you take into account that they could need neutering,be fully vaccinated,de matted,de flead, wormed, dental work and anything else that the vet might want them to have done. Also then if they come into fostercare they have to have food, litter, bowls, scratch posts, beds, toys etc it soon all adds up. rescues are forced to ask donations. Most rescues like the UKRCC will help with large vet bills that the cats may have when they first come into their new home too.One last thing ragdolls and other pedgiree cats aren't cheap anyway if you want to buy a pedgiree kitten from a registered breeder you can pay anything from £350 upwards so £90 isn't really that much really.I know people are feeling the pressure with money with the state the country is in at the moment but what people should remember is if you are finding it hard think how hard rescues are feeling with the extra amount of animals be put into their care.

Hi...

those are really beautiful cats... I posted something about myself into the 'Homes offered' section, nevertheless, I looked up these two on the ragdoll website - what I think might be a problem... is the 'adoption' fees.... The website says that you are supposed to pay 90£ for each of those, that makes it 180£ for 9 and 10 year old cat... and I think that may be a bit too much.

I mean I am not saying those should go for free, but for veterinary bills or neccesary care bills, not for a 'fee'. I mean do not get mad at me or judge me for saying it, but look up the every day new adverts offering ragdoll kittens, I think that 90£ for a 'rescue' cat is really a bit unrealistic, if you insist on this couple not to be separated... that is my personal opinion, indeed.

Beautiful cats, really, and I might even think about offering a home once learning more details, but my objection would be the fees - I would like to see bills that would justify the fees (and then would be happy to cover those), I do not want to 'buy the cat on sale.' (Its not a car for second-hand sales, I think...).

Well, this is merely my honest opinion (:  I hope you are not offended, I was just so surprised these two are looking for a home since the summer... it has to be so traumatizing for them /: poor kitties... I hope they find a new home, and if you feel like it, drop me a line with a few details maybe (:
