We will rehome outside of area if the right home is found for these two. But only within a reasonable distancefrom us) Homecheck and guarantee that you would be willing to give Smoo a nice happy home for as long as she is well. Smoo & Jillybean (photo) are two beautiful tabby cats that came into our care in January when their owner moved away from the area and could not take them with her. They are sisters, between one and two years old, who have lived as indoor cats for the whole of their lives so far. They are both healthy looking and have obviously been well cared for and much loved but Smoo has a serious medical problem. She has a very serious heart murmer which means that, although she looks healthy, major stress events, could be life threatening for her. Although medication will not help Smoo and is not therefore necessary, these medical problems mean that it may be difficult to find a home for them both
Both cats were incredibly nervous when they came to our foster home. They spent two weeks hiding under the bed in our spare room. Slowly they started to come out to be stroked and petted for small periods of time. Both can be extremely affectionate and love to roll over and have their tummies stroked, but it took some time to win their trust. Smoo in particular was very nervous and, at first, would only come out once Jilly had proved it was safe!
Now, after three or four weeks, the cats seem much more at home and we have been able to find out more about their personalities. Jilly is a real lap cat who will rush over to claim her place on your lap as soon as you sit down. If a lap isn't available she likes to curl up on the back of the sofa near the radiator and stretch out. Smoo is still more nervous and startles easily at loud noises or sudden movements. She loves to be strok ed and made a fuss of but only sits on your lap when she is feeling really secure. She prefers to sleep under the sofa or in a quiet corner and sometimes seems to find it hard to relax.
The sisters have always lived together and it would be hearless to separate them, especially as Smoo seems to rely on Jilly to help her feel safe and confident. We are looking for someone to give a home for the pair who will be able to accept Smoo's medical condition, live with the potential consequences and provide an environment that is compatible with her lifestyle.
