Thanks for the advice, i will ring her in a few mins to tell her. The vet just said that the high temperature could be due to an infection or eating something he shouldnt of done. It doesnt help that he is quite fussy when he is well im going round there tomorrow after work so i'll see if i can tempt him with anything, he does look alot brighter today than he did on friday though which must be a good thing xx

On one of simons many trips i was told 3 days is a concern 5 days is time to intervene with a tube or syringe feeding, the fact hes eaten a few nibbles helps. Get your mum to try every couple of hours and ring vets again in the morning, sometimes going in for fluids can help perk them up

The bottle of metacam was £18! Mum rang me earlier to say he had eaten a couple of pieces of oh so fishy of her fingers, checked too see if he is dehydrated and he Isnt, mum has also seen him drinking. I kind of feel responsible for him as My OH found him we couldn't have him so was going to take him too a rescue but my mum had him instead, he is lovely & if i didnt already have 4 we would of had him. My mum is worried sick about him, how much longer can he go without eating properly? xx

48hrs and id expect antibiotics to kick in and hours for metacam to lower a temperature especially if he had a jab to start it off. Find it funny they give you a bottle of metacam when the jab on friday would carry him over the weekend  :shify: how much did that chunk up the bill!

Have you tried finger feeding? Sometimes a plate of food is too much but a blob on a finger isnt a mountain, smelly fish like pilchards can tempt or iv found applaws chicken tins very handy for both cats iv had poorly the last few weeks.

Do you know how to check if he is dehydrated? Gently pinch the skin at the back of the neck and lift it up, it should 'ping' back down quickly not stay up

Thank u. Didnt want to rush back to the vets straight away if it Was not needed as he HATED it there he bit the vet & jumped of the table & wouldnt let any of Us near him! He is usually so loving but clearly doesnt like vets its the first time mum's had to take him as he was a stray that was found at my oh's work last june, no chip, rung all vets put posters Up & adds in papers etc but nobody claimed him so my mum said she would have him :-) xx

No, these injections are slow release. Plus the fact he is still 'punishing you' for allowing the nasty man with needles to do nasty things to him.  :-[ I wouldn't worry too much if it's only three days as the meds will hardly be active yet.  ;) Having said that, try experimenting with treats to stimulate his appetite.  :sneaky: A good sign though that he's eaten a few biccies.  :)

Poor Marley, if he's not eating by tomorrow I'd contact the vets and see what they say
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

I'm not sure hun, has your Mum tried some other foods to get him interested, like some smelly fish or something?

Cat milk is another good idea as its still classed as a food

One of my mum's cats Marley Isnt eating, we took him to the vets on friday he has a high temp and Was given an antibiotic jab & a antiinflammatory jab, mum Was given some antibiotics and some metacam to give him. The thing is he is still not eating properly, this morning he has had a few biscuits but thats it. How long should we leave it before go back to the vets? Should the antibiotics be working by now? Thanks for any advice xx
