Thanks for the thoughts, it doesn't matter how many times you go through this, it doesn't get any easier, and in fact, might be a bit harder each time - I so wanted to ring up and cancel his visit, but I knew I couldnt do that to him, and I had a sneaky look at his mouth as he dribbled on one side and it wasn't nice,and we couldnt have done much about it, so I know it was the right thing, and I think I got the timing right as he had started to leave a bit of food. The vet thinks he could have been as old as 20 looking at his face though, bless him and didn't know how I could keep going through this, and to be honest, I have no idea either, but knowing that he had a good couple of months does help a lot.
