Aww isn't he lovely  :Luv:

Can you get him to a vets so that rattly chest can be looked at ?
Sounds like he would benefit from some Antibiotics.....

Hopefully one of the places Julie has suggested will be able to take him in
Well done and good luck x

This is in our neighbouring district but they have no CP.  But HQ will help with a voucher I am sure.  :)

Which rescues have you tried, Foxmum? I can think of Cats In Crisis, Tag Pet rescue, East Kent Animal Hospital and Thanet Cat Club in Thanet itself. Further afield, Kingsdown Cat Sanctuary in Deal has been known to take cats from the Thanet area. Canterbury Cat Society might also help. Also try Lord Whiskey and Rhodes Minnis as they have a higher turnover. Plenty of avenues there.  ;)

Well done for looking after him - he's lovely  :Luv:

Here's a list of lots of rescues your area I'd contact them all http://www.catchat.org/adoption/kente.html even ask to go on a list I'm sure he'll soon get a home

I'd also arrange with your local CP to get him neutured
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

I have being looking after a stray for almost 6 months now, but he needs help.

He still has his bits, I have no idea of his age and he's got a long coat.

His chest is rattly and his coat is matted now, I have a shed which I have made him a bed and provide food, shelter and warmth, with of course cuddles. He is a nervous cat but kind treatment will win him over with time. I have tried a couple of local re homing places but they say they are either full or he needs to be "done" first, and I have a problem with just returning him to the garden without proper aftercare, as thats what they have told me to do.

I have a dog so can't take him in. I have checked everywhere I can for an owner, so would like some help from you kind people, what should I do now.

I am located in Westgate on Sea Kent

I will try to attach a photo

Thanks in advance for any help
