My bedroom is like a circus on a night on has nothing to do with my actions lol!  :evillaugh:

I'd put the tray near the flap for now.....4 to 6 wks to keep inside....My cats still jump at loud bangs so that is quite normal, they have to respond to something that may be dangerous!  ;)

Mine have the run of the house and no door is shut - wouldn't feel right without a cat or 5 on my bed -in fact i actively encourage it  ;D

I go for 6 weeks especially if the other home was within a cats travelling distance which could be up to 20 miles if they are determined.

Like cc I let them in the bedroom, just couldnt shut them out.

Do you leave food for her at night, that may help

Its recommended that a cat is kept indoors for roughly 4 weeks but I would always go a few weeks over that just to be sure  :)

Cant help with much else cos Im useless and just let them in my bed  :evillaugh:

new cat questions
« Reply #1 on: November 14, 2009, 09:54:54 AM »
We got a new cat 3 weeks ago, she is beautiful. She's been renamed Ruby by my daughter.  We didn't want to get one so soon after Naboo but the house felt empty without a cat.
She's settling in well but is still a bit jumpy at loud sounds.

How long should we keep her indoors to settle her into her new home for? We've locked the cat flap but she keeps clawing at it & weeing on the floor which I think is in protest at being kept indoors.

Also I think her old owners used to let her sleep in their bedroom which we don't want. She is sitting outside our bedroom door all night mewing & scratching which is keeping us  and the kids awake. Is there anything that we can to discourage this?
