My God MP, it only cost just under £200 for my Ollie to have most of his teeth out (16 I think) and blood tests done  :shify:

I wouldn't put Merlin through the stress of the GA not when he has heart problems

oh i'm glad i saw this thread - Aside from the vet telling me this morning that Merlin has a heart murmur, she also said that his back teeth have some tartar, which has
caused his gums to look slightly inflamed. The estimate for cleaning his teeth is £350   as they have to put him under anaesthetic. Not keen on this idea, for cost reasons and also putting Merlin under if he has a heart murmur. Maybe i'll try the logic gel
Love thy neighbour............. especially if they have cake!

You dont' need to brush with logic gel.  It probably helps to get a bit of friction going, but the enzymes are supposed to work if you just add it to food or let them lick it from finger or tube.  My 2 love it and lick it straight from the tube.

Just tried and he let me do a little bit, then legged it  :evillaugh:

Just noticed where I put some on Macey she has taken the fur off  She did have a stress problem before where she would pull her fur out on her arms, so I dont think its a good idea for her  :scared:

LOL @ Flynn

I think it is tartar, it was a yellowy brown colour  :shify:

The problem with chicken wings would be raw chicken all over the place, with the kids I wouldn't want that  :shy: Although I could put him outside for a go  :)

Would he eat chicken wings?
If he has a lot of tartar it wont shift without crunchy bones or a professional scale. Tartar doesnt easily come off like plaque does  :tired:
Plaque off and logic gel are good for slowing the build up on already clean teeth  ;D

Got some logical gel....wish me luck  :scared:

I have already put some on the rest of the cats paws to lick off but dont think this will do for Teddy.

I tried with Penny and Squeaky but it was a nightmare, I got the bits and bobs from the vet.  My vet never suggested it for Schui though I had to use a cotton bud dipped in stuff to get tartar off every day  until he had his teeth out.

eta: there is a link here of a video from our care guides section which may be helpful: http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/brushing_teeth/index.shtml

tbh in my house its an oh job - I'm too much of a baby to hold them down, you'll probably need to wrap him in a towel - they don't enjoy it

Silly me I didn't even think of that, and I do have a couple spare   :evillaugh:

I will try the vets later on for some paste.

Which position is best to hold them and is it a 2 man job? Ted is a big lazy lout but dont know how he would react to getting his teeth brushed  :shify:

Ted needs to start getting his teeth brushed  :scared: How easy/ hard is this to do? He has quite a bit of tartar and so the vets has recomended I start brushing them.

Which is the best tooth paste to use, and also which brush  :-: They do have brushes in my vets but they seem the size for dogs, no way would I be able to get that into his mouth. Where can I get a cat toosie brush from?
