Thought I would just quickly update about this little girl. She came out of the vets yesterday and is now with one of our fosterer's and on cage rest for 8 weeks. She is doing very well and everyone at the vets fell in love with her  ;D. She has been named Callie. No sign of her owners yet unfortunately.

a photo of you, the four girls and the cat in your local paper would be wonderful, Ann, as Bazsmum says, in so many respects

Just popping in with the good news that this little girl has used her tray overnight  ;D so she is making progress. The vet was going to let her out tomorrow but we have asked if they can keep her until Monday to give us time to sort out a space for her. Once she gets settled I will try and get some photos of her so you can see how pretty she is, the vet says she is a lovely cat and very friendly.  :Luv2:

Its positive news knowing that she has not as much damage than the 5 month old and they have obviously bounced back to full health.... Hope her owners can be found and hope she manages to pee okay soon!

More positive healing vibes being sent....

Its a pity you could'nt get a pic of the kids in the paper along with the cat as that way it may encourage other youngsters to do decent things!  ;)

Thought I would give you a quick update on this little girl's progress. She has a badly broken right side of her pelvis, they can't operate as there are too many bits. She will need to have total cage rest for 8 weeks with check ups and she may need her femeral head removed if she is in too much pain. At the moment we are also still waiting to see if she can wee ok as she hasn't wee'd since we got her. Poor little soul, I'm so pleased I was in the right place at the right time.

The good thing is the vet says her injuries are no where near as bad as a little 5 month old we took in a few months ago and he was adopted by his foster mum and is doing really well with no lasting effects from his injury. Hopefully she will start to wee soon and put our minds at rest that there are no other injuries and it will just be a matter of time and rest for her.

We are going to try and get something in the local paper to see if we can track down her owners.

I saw two of the little girls as I came home from shopping this evening and they waved to me and then asked me if the cat was alright, bless them, I told them she has a broken leg (easier to explain than the full details) but thanked them again for helping her.

I'll keep you updated as we hear from the vet, we will ring them tomorrow morning to see how she is doing.

Thats a miracle you were there - well done to you and the little girls for helping this little cat.
Lots of mega healing vibes that she recovers and her owners come forward - they will have to keep her in or cat proof the garden if they do .

That's a good idea trigger, will wait to make sure she is going to be ok first though I think just to be on the safe side. Until x rays and tests we don't really know what we are dealing with.

It is pure luck that I was there as I would only be at that bus stop at that time once a month when I go to the meeting. Obviously fate dealt a hand there I think.  ;D

Ann, I suspect the actions of the 4 girls as well as the luck that you happened to be nearby would be a good story for your local newspaper

which might help find the little cat's owner, either the current one or a new one if necessary, and get the rescue some good publicity

have you thought of trying to interest them?

I have heard back from our Welfare Officer and as I thought it is fine and we will be able to find somewhere for her to go if we don't find her owners. I just hope she will be ok and she doesn't have any internal injuries. I'm going to put some notices tomorrow in local newsagents on our estate and on the one across the bypass as she may have come from over there. She is such a lovely cat I'm sure someone must be missing her. She must have tried to cross the bypass and got knocked down poor soul, that's why my two are indoors, that road is a nightmare  :censored:

I have to say the girls were little stars, it was so nice to see children that were so caring - restores your faith that there are some nice youngsters out there.

Thanks guys, I didn't do much but at least she is comfortable now. Have hopefully sorted out her transfer tomorrow but no idea where we are going to put her after she comes out of vets if we don't find her owner! Our welfare officer was away today so have just sent her a very long text with details - we will struggle to find somewhere for her but I couldn't just leave her or let her be pts if she has a chance. Keeping everything crossed for her

My first hands on cat emergency! Positive vibes needed please
« Reply #1 on: September 07, 2009, 21:08:17 PM »
I've had my first hands on cat rescue tonight and I'm still a bit shaky about it. I had gone up to wait for the bus to go to our branch commitee meeting and I'm standing there minding my own business and watching these 4 little girls who were playing. Anyway one of them came over to me and said they had found a cat and they thought there was something wrong with it as it couldn't get up. The bus stop is right beside the very busy bypass and then there are some openings between the houses that go from the front to the back and this poor cat was just lying there and not moving, it looked like a problem with one of its back legs. Of course I had left my phone on charge so I asked the girls if they would keep an eye on her while I went and got my phone. So off I dashed down the street, came in and grabbed my phone hoping it had enough charge to let me call someone and grabbed my cat carrier and dashed back up the street. Managed to ring one of the girls from the branch and ask her to come and get me so we could take the cat to the emergency vets. One of the girls helped me get the cat in the carrier and then off I went to wait for Alison and we took the cat up to the emergency vet. Unfortunately it is Vets Now but they were actually very nice. They said they would put it through as an RSPCA case for them to pay for the emergency but I did say we were from CP and to ring me if it was likely to cost more than RSPCA would cover as I knew they would have to pts if we didn't help and it was a big bill.

Anyway, just got back from the meeting and got a call on my mobile from the vet. She was lovely and she says she thinks it is a pelvic fracture and possibly worse but they wouldn't know unless they did x-rays etc. She said obviously they were limited in what they could do under RSPCA rules so she would likely have to put the cat to sleep. Well of course I said no problem we will at least give her a chance and see if she can be sorted out and she said she had hoped I would say that as she didn't want to pts. So now I am trying to sort out getting her picked up from Vets Now early in the morning and then transferred to our normal vets so they can do x rays etc. The vet said the cat is fairly comfortable at the moment as she's had morphine and is on a drip so she was happy to keep her there overnight until we can get her transferred. I don't drive unfortunately and of course they need her picked up quite early.

She is a gorgeous cat, tortie, tabby and white and such a love, I hope we can do something for her. She had a collar on but no tag, don't know if they checked for a microship but our vets will.

I have to say those 4 little girls were stars in spotting her and then asking for help so thank you to them.

Sorry for the long post but please send some positive vibes for this little girl.
