I am pleased to report that Melissa, now re-named Melly, has gone to live with a gentleman of older years in his four bedroomed detached house, with large garden backing onto woodland and surrounded by cat friendly neighbours.  I feel it is a match made in heaven.

A belated piccie of Melly.

I have heard though of people who have put into their will that they want their pets pts and buried with them

to be charitable I suspect it stems from fear of what will happen to their pets when they go - it worries me as I have no relatives near, or that care much for animals - I have found a local lady who would take them in and find new homes for them if  possible, but if it weren't for her I think I would rather they were gently pts than find themselves cast out to fend for themselves

It is so sad and what did they think of their relative if they could so easily do that to their pet  :(

I asked my vet about this before-and they said they do try to talk the people out of it saying they would contact a rescue, but if the person is adiment its what they have to do  :( Who could be so heartless  >:(

Lady is still this evening perched on top of the kitchen cupboards though she did come down earlier for some fuss.

Is still not eating so I think it will be off to get some pilchards tomorrow.  Chicken didn't seem to entice her.

She seems quite relaxed to be up there and as long as she is at ease, we don't mind being watched from above, though I must say I will have to try and get up there and give the top of the units a bit of a clean, it's a bit greasy up there :-[.

Ahh bless her .... her world HAS collapsed poor little thing.  Lost her owner, lost her home and nearly lost her life  :(  I'm sure she will settle in time Lesley and will hopefully find a new slave to love and pamper her  :Luv2:

She doesn't seem too interested in food at the moment, but I guess she must think her world has just collapsed so it will take time for her to adjust to things.  She did use the litter tray though, so that pleased OH.

:( aww the poor love, huge   to Lady

The relatives didn't even leave her name with the PDSA but when they booked her second vaccination for me they wrote on the card "Stray Lady" - I don't know whether that related to the cat or me

Good luck to the poor darling. I hope she finds a forever home to appreciate her properly soon.  :naughty:

Well our new arrival is esconsed in the kitchen at the moment and has managed to work out how to get to the top of the wall cupboards and was happily snoozing there when I left for work.

She has a most unusual face and when you look at her profile, she looks a bit like a boxer who has had their nose broken - her nose is quite squashed but her lower jaw sticks out. :Luv2:

The relatives didn't even leave her name with the PDSA but when they booked her second vaccination for me they wrote on the card "Stray Lady" - I don't know whether that related to the cat or me   but thought it would be quite nice to call her "Lady".

She is very spritely for her age, although I must confess I don't think of an 11 year old cat as old.

Fingers crossed with this little one Lesley, I hate people who do things like this, but the only consolation is they used a vet with rescue contacts and not one who would go ahead with it.

I have made a will , but in light of the rescue i made it out to - i will be changing it asap !!!
This person has never once emailed me to see how Bungly is even though they were told of the situation !!!
I will find another rescue that is deserving of anything i have left and of course my cats will have to be looked after if there is any left behind - if they aren''t -by god i will drive them to purgatory and back a thousand times !

Me and OH will be rewriting Wills in the next month and the cats will definitely get top priority before anything gets paid to anyone.  Not a bean will anyone get until all are safely homed to the satisfaction of my cat loving Executrix.

Thing is, not one member of my family would dream of pts a healthy pud .... mom brought us up right.

I knew a lady in London who had a massive stroke and wasn't expected to live. Her son took her cat for PTS.  >:( Against all the odds, she recovered, went home and asked her son "where's my cat?"  :innocent: She has never spoken to her son since.  :shy:

What evil nasty people even if they couldn't take her themselves you'd think they'd at least try and find her a new home ...poor baby.  I really hope the elderly relative has left nothing in his will for these miserable b*ggers!

Well done Lesley for taking her in and well done the PDSA for not going through with their wishes.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if at the will reading, they said, you were set a test and depending on the outcome, you may receive my £million - Anyone in the family who took on my cat will receive all my money, otherwise it will go to cat charities  :evillaugh:

Oh wouldn't that be the sweetest Karma

As for them wanting a cat PTS because it's an inconvienience....its always makes me angry (particulary as it was the fate that the previous owners of my 3 had lined up for them)  >:( >:(

11 year old Tortie taken for PTS following owner's death
« Reply #1 on: July 27, 2009, 10:41:32 AM »
Had a call from the PDSA (most of my posts seem to start off like that this year :-:) asking if I had any contacts to take in an 11 year old cat that was taken in by relatives of a deceased man, asking for her to be put to sleep as no one wanted to take her on.

Have asked them to vaccinate and flea treat and I will pick her up this afternoon.  Apparently she is a neutered Tortie, so

What's the betting the relatives don't turn down the money from any Will so easily :censored: :censored:
