Got one of these today and  have to admit they seem to make the process a whole lot easier. Will see if that continues when Jack gets wise to the presence of the pill gun.... :tired:

I break the pill up and pop it in with water and just get him as he is chillin.  if you give it quick its less myther for your cat and with the water it will go down easier, but remember if they have to take it with food then do this just before you put the food down.

That was how my vet told me to give certain crushable tablets if Pep wouldn't take them, unfortunately thyroid tabs can't be crushed.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

My cat has to have tablets every day at the moment and as he's not well I am unable to hold him to give it to him.

Like Gillian I use cheese and ham etc but he sometimes isn't interested.  I was given a pill giver by the vets but found it hard, so I use a childs medcine shringe and cut the end off so there its a larger hole, I break the pill up and pop it in with water and just get him as he is chillin.  if you give it quick its less myther for your cat and with the water it will go down easier, but remember if they have to take it with food then do this just before you put the food down.

He can get pretty much anything separated from whatever you wrap round it. That's part of the problem, and I don't want him to be stressed daily about tablets so I'll have to see if any of the treat things work as well as getting a pill gun I think.

does he like cheese?  (silly question really, don't all cats like cheese? LOL!) - thats how I give Sam his pills, with a piece of cheese moulded round them. On the days he doesnt fancy cheese, its wafer thin ham or chicken. The only decent pill giver I've found is this one that I got from my vets a few years ago. Its got a flexible rubber end which grips the pill.

I have tried several different version of pill givers and the cats are terrified. It also harder to control them. I think the one in the pic is the one that has a syringe bit to squirt water after they are pilled? - they have them in PAH

Reminds me that Willow is not being medicated ATM as I can't pill her to save my life as she gets so upset and screams. She is refusing to clean the pill crushed with furball paste off her front leg and it just dries in. She has a bald patch as well from pulling the fur out there. I am trying one last thing tomorrow which is mixing the crushed pill with EFA (Udo's choice) - the Omegas are good for her and it won't dry out being oil. After that, I will have to give up and maybe just have the vet give her vitamin jabs once a month.

For most cats - well any cat that takes treats, a bit of webbox squashed around a pill works fine. Give them a couple of un-spiked bits as they will snif the first one then at the 3rd attempt, give them the one with the pill in  :evillaugh:

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

:evillaugh: can you picture Lexy letting me get near her with one of those? By the time I would figure out how to get it to her, she'd be under the bed far away. I know my sister's cat though, does well with it, but then again, he's so chilled he just opens his mouth and lets you do what you want.
