She pees like a horse  :evillaugh:

Anyway, I ordered cystease for Willow - how I will get it in her is another issue. She is a big shiny lump with the most dense coat I have ever seen  :Luv2:

She seems fine now - although Kylie just projectile peed onto a jumper on a chair and it went all over the floor - I am not happy as I spent the afternoon cleaning the basement - just as well we don't have carpet in this room  :tired: - guess who won't be getting any treats tonight  >:(
I told her off but she nonchalantly threw herself on the rug and started cleaning herself. She is now waiting for a fuss.

I've had several battles with Cystitis this year. It doesn't sound like you are going through the same things as my Tilly does though.  :-: Tilly's bladder shrunk so much she couldn't produce enough to soak anything.  :( Just small blobs of heavily blood stained drops. She mostly took to doing it on Terry's discarded shirts.  It broke my heart to see her straining and straining to produce a little drop of bright red urine. Sometimes that's all she did for hours... just wander to a new area, squat and strain over and over again.  :'( Cystaid combined with a long acting antibiotic was clearing it up for short periods but it kept coming back after around a month.

Uncle Simon thought she may be carrying a peculiar virus not covered by the antibiotic injection and he needed a urine sample free from blood cells when she was inbetween episodes. Tilly wouldn't obliged by using the special litter so she had to be sedated and they took some urine from her bladder with a needle. It turned out she didn't have the virus, even if she did in the first place, so in theory Cystaid should treat it if given for long enough.

Uncle Simon said she needed to be kept on the Cystaid for a bit longer after she seemed back to normal. I sprinkled in on her food at the first sign of trouble and she was back to normal in a few days. So I kept giving it to her for a few more days. Touch wood she has been free of Cystitis for around 3 months now.  :) Jumpy is a swine and nibbles it too but Simon said it wouldn't do him any harm.  :evillaugh: So long as Tilly got most of the tablet's worth, that's good enough.

Big hugs to Willow. Cystitis is horrid.  :'( Fingers crossed they will find whatever is causing it soon. That Cystaid is wonderful stuff... can you not confine her to one room while she eats? Even if she gets just some of the powder inside her it's going to help.  ;)

There isn't any blood this time and there was no crying. I also saw her do a normal wee this morning so think its best to let her chill. I can't see the point of another £50 for nothing. I will just keep a beady eye on her.

how old is she Mark?

About 11 going on 6 months - she is as right as rain this morning and nosing about like a lunatic. I think I will hold fire and keep an eye on her. She had 2 urine tests a while ago. I will order some cystaid and see if I can get it in her. I may have to mix it in with her furball paste/Fortekor mixture that I rub into her leg every day. I know it is stres related so we need to find a way to relax her.

I can sympathise, I have several bits of furniture that are ruined by my sprayers, I had to make special plastic covers for all my electric sockets in the kitchen and for my books and I have to keep my toaster in a cupboard!

The other issue is I refuse to spend the rest of Willow's life follwing her around clearing up pee - I am so sick of it that I a ready to pack my bags and leave here - I have spend a good hour today doing damage control. Just now she peed on a vacuum hose and onto a victorian trunk which dribbled onto the floor. I have had 2 sinks full of papers etc that are soaked in pee - A lot of them can't be thrown out so we have bin bags full of pee soaked papers all over the place. I love her but I can't live like this. I filled a bin bag with stuff from the coffee table today and had to wash it down. Also one of the mantelpieces in the basement + the floor and surround. That is without her throwing up furballs etc. I spent £50 on high strength urine remover as the curtains stink. She has put me off ever having another cat in the house in case it turns out like her.

She will pee like that then look at me pleadingly to be picked up and carried round like a baby.

Hmmm, difficult one!  Cystaid can be sprinkled on food, but if she doesnt eat a full meal......oh well, back to the drawing board.   :)

No - the problem is getting anything down her. She won't eat treat. Fights tooth nail to avoid being pilled and won't even eat a proper meal. She picks a bit here and a bit there and often from other cats plates. She has never been any different. Whatever I tried to give her, she would never get the proper dose.

She just passed some mucous - The vet said although it seems gross, passing mucous is good (better than a blockage)

Luckily, its very unlikely that a female will block, hope the vet can sort her tomorrow,  have you tried her on Cystaid?

Thanks Clare. She isn't crying this time. The last time the vet said a vet trip would probably make her worse. I feel terrible as her peeing on the mantelpiece was probably trying to tell us something?  :(
Anyway, something needs to be sorted - I will get her there tomorrow.

I will phone the vet in the morning  :(

We really need to see about getting her on some tranquilisers I think. She is impossible to pill. I attempted pilling her today with Fortekor but it was a long and pointless exercise.
