I dont know about dogs trust but the other 2 are known in certain areas for pts harder to home eg elderly or fiv

I too wondered if there were issues between the neighbours....though it has to be said that many people wouldn't know or care if the ravenous bug-blatter beast of trall lived next door!

However, IMO the fact that there is a chance of neighbour dispute entering a new dimension doesn't excuse the RSPCA's actions, Luna was healthy and in good condition...unless the neighbour had tampered with her coat condition etc. in order to make her look like a stray (in which case they need to have the book thrown at them

) the RSPCA did not hold the cat for any amount of time to allow for owners to trace the cat..........

The admin on the second link is trying to gather evidence of this type for submission to the Charities Commisson. Like many of the rescues on here she takes on cases that the RSPCA have turned thier back on, a significant amount of them involving blantant cruelty.

The PM I recieved follows:

Sadly Jade and Sheba lost their fight for life, the neglect that they suffered had gone on for too long without any veterinary intervention, yet again the RSPCA let it happen, for the last 6 weeks of their lives they enjoyed the love and kindness of a very special foster family, they then knew what it was to be feed regularly and to sleep in a warm bed....

We think that it is time that the RSPCA are looked into more closely to stop any more dogs (though she will take reports on any animal case) suffering needlessly and owners not being prosecuted, this is where we need your help.

HAVE YOU GOT ANY EXPERIENCES OF THE RSPCA?

In order for the Charities Commission to consider any stories as evidence that the RSPCA is not always using its vast funding for the purposes intended by the general public, the reports have to be verifiable.

To meet these requirement, each reported incident will need to include

1) The name of the person who had the unsatisfactory experience. (We may need to also ask for an address if the CC request it as further proof but hope this won't be necessary)
2) The dates and times of the incident/s.
3) Full and precise details of each incident including calls made to the RSPCA and their response.
4) Emotional impact.
5) Copies of any correspondence.
6) Any photographic evidence.
7) Length of time involved.

Details of any outcome - satisfactory or otherwise.

I was wondering that too CC. I had a woman last week who wanted us to take cat he neighbours had abandoned. I told her we can't just take owned cats for legal reasons.

The Mirror hasn't published my comment which was very toned down and no worse than any that were published.

Are we sure there wern't things going on between the owners and the neighbour? They could of been having a dispute- although no reason to do this, but some neighbours like to hit you where it hurts

I just dont know why the neighbour would this the cat was a stray, surely they had seen it before?

When I contacted my local rspca about a stray (a propper stray) they were very kind and didnt suggest to stop feeding it, and said we would have to do something to get him caught before the cold winter. My CP were less helpfull- they said there was nothing they could do with him being stray- he would be no good in their pens

My local animal welfare...well Im not even going to go into that one

This is absolutely awful, RIP Luna

I hope they get the book thrown at them, and that all the newspapers take up this story - so many people think they are doing a good thing by donating money to them, and they don't have a clue what actually goes on 'behind closed doors'.

So sad, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Luna's poor owners

If a cat or any other animal came into my garden and i killed it wouldn't i be arrested, fined and possibly sent to prison? why should they be above this ruling. They are not a government agency or anything just a charity. Surely there must be some loop hole so you can take court action. we know it won't bring luna back but may help prevent it happening to anyone else in future.

Poor Lunas plight was just posted on a cat rescue forum I frequent....may I pass on my condolences and tell you that we are disgusted (but regretably not suprised) at this abborent situation. The RSPCA must be made accountable for these actions, for the apathy, for thier unacceptable breaches of policy. I am sickened to hear of yet another innocent that has suffered at the hands of an organisation set up to protect them

i was totally devasted that the rspca could do such a vile thing to a poor defenseless cat who was only playing like most cats do. it begs the question do they actually serve a purpose? as they ignore suffering animals and prey on healthy ones. sorry to hear what they have done. would they be happy if it happened to them......i think not!!!!!!!

While I accept that there are individual members of the RSPCA hierachy that are good kind souls who care deeply for thier charges...the policies set by the higher echelons and the practices of the inspectors MUST be revised...it is time for them to do as they claim not as they want.....

I am glad to hear that the RSPCA are being taken to court.....they deserve no pity for this revolting act

However I think considering the numerous cases of this nature that have occured, a class action is called for...it carries much more clout in the media and the courts.........

Is it just the Red tops that are carrying this story? 'cos I think the broadsheets should be made aware as well...then all demographics that give money to these

will be made aware of their true nature..

I remember that case, but there have been far more than most people realize. Unfortunately I cannot say too much. The stories that reach the papers are I think only the tip of a very large iceberg.

If the cat was chipped surely they would have a case for going to court against them, stealing property and destroying it. (that sounds cold but you know what I mean)

I remember the case of the old cat a few years ago, it was pts in the back of the van....it was a much loved cat, fit and well but old
