I just ( a few days go)  insured my mom's cat Susan with Axa.  I live in Brum.  Susan is 12 years old, no health issues and premiums are just over £12 p/mth.  Not fair if you have to pay an extra £3 p/mth but wonder if that reflects higher vet charges?

 :thanks: makes sense  ;D

I no longer recommend Sainsbury's as they put their excess up to £125 and I dont want to pay that much - AXA is a straight £50 and Molly at 16.5 is £13.77 (renewal came through last week). Cant remember how much Zia (19) is though, but they are both similar amounts. You clearly live in a more expensive area than me MM!!

I remember you posting before and thought they would be a reasonable price, hes only 12  :Luv2: everything is more expensive down south  :tired:

Iv never heard of quidco, sounds like a dodgy supermarket lol

http://www.quidco.com/

It's free to sign up, there's a £5 annual membership fee which they take out of your first earnings that they pay you so if you don't earn anything, you don't pay anything.  It's basically like clicking on the vetuk link on a rescue site. Clear your cookies then click on the site you want to use (important as Sainsburys/Halifax/Petplan etc need to see you came to them via the Quidco site) then proceed as normal.  I've earnt loads, £75 for switching to Scottish power, £60 for car insurance etc etc All things that I was going to do anyway so free money really  :wow:

There's loads of pet insurance companies on there  ;D

It does a bit!! It's a cashback website, basically you are earning the commision that would normally be given to click-through adverts (a bit like the 5% given to Purrs for the Zooplus link). I can heartily recommend topcashback.co.uk - I've been with them for yonks, they don't charge any fees and you can withdraw any amount via BACs however small.  ;D

Whoever you sign up with check to see if they do cashback via Quidco or similar as you might get a good chunk of the premium back - just had a look and Halifax is £20, Petplan £25, there's loads...

I know Desley has used Sainsburys for older cats with no problems, their cover is 7.5k per condition, not sure what the excess is though.  Have you heard of Quidco? You can get £40 cashback if you go through Quidco  ;D

Its not official yet  :tired: im pre-empting lol mother has cracked and i sense father is breaking  :sneaky: ;)

Just a matter of time surely  :naughty:

I guess a reasonable per condition may suffice  :um:
I will have a look at the ones you mention  :thanks:

:1st place: on his official adoption BTW  :naughty:

Would a 'per condition' rather than 'per year' be any good for Gooey given his age? So lets say 7k per condition with no time limits on how long the condition can be claimed for - if so then that opens up your insurance world considerably.

The only true 'life cover' ones that I know of with a yearly pot ie 7k or similar each and every year as opposed to per condition, are:

Axa
Petplan
NFU mutual (phone quotes only)
HSBC
Halifax
M&S (Boo Hiss!)

HSBC, Halifax and M&S could of course do an 'M&S' at any stage and change underwriters and T&C's but the top 3 are underwritten by themselves.

:1st place: on his official adoption BTW  :naughty:

I'll sign up to this thread for the same advice. I'm still trying to get Axa to accept Lexy despite her history. Direct Line is so expensive now, over £15 a month for her.

Are there any current  alternatives to axa insurance, petplan are cheaper but as gooey is 12 its restricted cover, axa is £15 a month
I want life cover not any restricted types, theres so many on these comparison websites, most i havnt heard of  :tired:
Im preparing in advance of the 'are we keeping him then discussion'   :sneaky::shify: :shify:
