Dear Maddy.

I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you I really am. You were so young for this to happen to you. It broke my heart to let you go.

I believe it was fate I was to rescue you 3 years ago. I had always wanted a ragdoll and when I saw you’re picture it was love at first sight. I couldn’t wait to meet you. To have you home. You looked absolutely stunning.

I didn’t expect you to be so scared of things. For months you would run to my bedroom window and hide behind the curtain. I still can’t help wondering what it was that made you that way. Whatever it was I am glad you knew real love.

I remember one day looking round and seeing you sitting in the front room. It was the first time I had seen you do that and it felt wonderful. But still, if I got up you would run back upstairs. It took many months more before you let me see the real you. I will never forget that time you were on the top level of the cat tree and you leant down and gave me a head butt on my forehead. I will never forget our little ritual in the bathroom with you drinking from the tap. You finally settled and gave me you’re trust.

I will never forget those beautiful deep blue eyes. So entrancing and magical that I could spend hours just standing there admiring you. And then there is you’re tail. Surely you need some kind of license to posses a tail of such quality. I will miss very much having you around.

Even though you were with me for 3 years, I feel I have only had a little while with the real you and for that I am truly sad, but rather that than have not met you at all. A gentle beautiful creature that only wanted love. You had love Maddy. I love you very much.

You had me at “Meow”.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

I have lost many myself. They are all buried here - swore to them they would come back home. But, you know, as glad as I am that they are buried here, and glad that you are seeing to her as you are, we really must know - and DO know - that they are still with us. We honour their beautiful bodies, but also must acknowledge and rejoice in their continuing souls.

I KNOW this. Like my Ariadne - so dreadfully hurt when she and I found each other. She, like your Lady, spent a long time under chairs, desks and all. Didn't even know how to play. But lived to become the "Mother of us all" - not because of her uterus (I spay and neuter all who come) but because of her absolute love and acceptance of any and all who came near. Or Myshkin. Wild but dreadfully hurt. He spent years coming to trust me.

She was fortunate to find you - and you her. TOO short a time you had together. But you will always remember her and her glorious sapphire eyes. As I do my incredible Bress (he of THE most astonishing blue eyes! Allowed him to 'see' magical beings. (It's a long story!) ).

She is with you. Waiting, too, over the bridge, of course. But with you now as well.

I have arranged for Maddy's cremation for Monday at 12:30.

The crematorium I use do a really nice ceramic "sleeping cat" hand painted to look like the cat.

I have really missed her today.

I lost my Maddy at 17:20 this evening. She gently fell asleep at the vets.

The battle against CRF is lost.

Maddy was my first Ragdoll .A bi colour lynx no less and an absolute stunner.

She had deep saphire blue eyes that could entrance you.

I rescued her when she was 6 years old as her previous owner was an old lady that died.

She was an extremely timid cat and wouldn't come out of the cat carrier for 2 days after I got her home.

It took 6 months before she would even leave the bedroom and if I moved even a tiny bit, she would run back up to her "place of safety".

Its only been the last year or so that she was relaxed enough to chill out with me and my other ragdolls on the cat trees or the lounge. I will never forget the first time she appeared at the doorway to the lounge. I felt so special the day she jumped up on the sofa and sat with me. Its only been the last year that she let me really fuss and cuddle her.

I feel so angry that I missed out on so much of her life. This wasn't the end I wanted for her.

How can I describe this cat? Beautiful, loving, No trouble at all. I'm sure she was happy here. I hope she was.

Maddy I miss you deeply and you will always been in my heart. I'm just glad you are not suffering anymore.
