We eventually managed to see the other tabby cat and he was another lookalike.  We had another possible sighting a couple of miles away a couple of weeks ago, but I'm terrified it'll just turn out to be another look alike.  We keep going to have a look at the place but haven't seen any cats there yet and have leafleted etc. I haven't got access to the cat trap at the minute (it's trying to catch a feral queen before she has more babies...) so I've laid a scent trail from there across the fields back to our house using the hoover bag and am going to lay another one tonight. I can't think what else to do at the minute...

Managed to see one of the look-alikes, actually a girl! Still trying to speak to the likely owners of the other or catch sight of the cat ourselves... I don't think it's likely to be Stanley but I want to see him/her myself just to be sure...

More positive vibes coming your way~~~~~never give up hope!  :Luv:

I would'nt say you think their cat may be yours, I would knock the door asking if they have seen him etc, mention he is chipped in conversation as Im sure they would think twice if it were not theirs and he were chipped!  :sneaky:

Good Luck with your search!

No news yet... just a few cases of mistaken identity.
We had a phone call from a couple who live quite close who had seen a tabby cat in their garden occasionally for a few weeks (same length of time Stan's been missing) but when we asked around one of their neighbours has a similar sounding tabby.  We've had the cat trap out just in case but no luck, and we've not managed to speak to the tabby cat owners yet, although they haven't responded to a large leaflet and picture we put through their letter box. Not quite sure how to approach the 'can we check your cat out in case he's actually our cat' conversation with complete strangers!
We've had another phone call yesterday from someone who'd seen a tabby cat in their garden a couple of times recently and we've moved the trap there but it is much further away and there are a lot of houses (outskirts of the nearby town) so it's probably one of the neighbours cats they've seen...
It's been so long now that I'm starting to wonder if I'd even recognise him myself... at least he's chipped and we've got lots of photos.

Still no sign of Stanley... we had one potential sighting in the nearby village 10 days ago and have had a cat trap out there but only managed to catch the poor unsuspecting neighbour's cat a couple of times!

I'm sure he won't be far.
This is the time of year when cats get locked in outbuildings and sheds by accident (as happened to our Howie this week).
Hope you find him soon.

We've got Sam's tips, thank-you. My husband was a bit surprised by the hoover bag fluff on his lawn, but it's worth trying! We've asked everyone nearby to check their buildings, and we've listened for miaows but nothing so far...

Stanley is gorgeous and hope you have looked at all the things you can do within this section, Sams tips

I hope that Stanley just walks in out of nowhere very soon but think you need to get all out buildings surrounding you checked to see if he has been locked in by acfcident

Stanley is a 5 year old male neutered tabby with white socks and a white bib.  He is microchipped but isn't wearing a collar.  He went out on the 16th April and hasn't been seen since. He doesn't normally go out for more than 12 hours at a time - he's pretty lazy! We've spoken to the neighbours, posted leaflets nearby, spoken to local resuces and vets, spoken to the council and searched all the fields nearby (we live on a farm conversion) but haven't had any news at all.  We are desperately missing him and are very worried.
