No problem  :)
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

The Purina NF dry is going down well although I don't want to encourage them eating too much of it.

If your vet doesn't have it, I will put a tin in the post although don't have time to go to the PO so will have to stick some stamps on and hope for the best  :evillaugh:

I got quite excited by your first post Mark, but if Clapton is going off it already, I may reserve judgement for now.

With Max being so fickle, I don't want 24 tins of something he wont eat, but will ask the vets tomorrow as I'm there for his thyroid bloods again!

Clapton ate the first few mouthfuls excitedly last night - even with the fortekor in the first mouthful but soon got bored. He also ate 1/2 pouch RC renal beef this morning. This is an expensive game to play  :tired:

I will try mixing some with Whiskas chicken in gravy later as it has loads of gravy and he loves it.

Well Korky he say  NO WAY

For a few hours there i was quite excited (note to self: get a life ) but as soon as I opened it I knew it would be a failure - the texture is too sticky.  He ate just under a quarter of a tin and then started spluttering and swallowing and licking his lips and had to have a drink of water from the dish next to his food bowl (which he very rarely uses).  At that point he went and sat by his food cupboard .  I don't think he's being difficult, I think he really does struggle with anything of that texture.

Wet is 0.1% and dry is 0.3% (I could have sworn it said 0.5% on the bag - either way, it is lower than k/d dry)

The wet is 76.5% moisture according to the tin so that makes phosphorus 0.55% dry matter(compared with 0.46% for the RC pouches so  similar).  Interestingly, the figures quoted on the link you gave are similar not the same as those on the tin.

There is also a video on the site that I plan to watch later. Good to see that it has added B vits + omega 3&6 + Potassium. RC probably does too but they don't give much info on their packaging?

I think the liver & heart makes it appealing.

Thats interesting because organ meat is higher in phosphate than meat from flesh.  What is the phosphte content out of interest?

Do you also give regular or senior food with binders or just renal food?

He had just renal food for nearly a year.  He was quite happy with RC pouches in beef or tuna with occassional dry as a treat.  Sometimes he would lick the gravy off and leave the bits but if I mixed a very small amount of dry with them he would eat it all up. Since declaring the RC a no-go area he now he gets normal food (Nature's menu is the winner at the moment) with Ipakitine in it.  The Ipakitine isn't a particularly strong binder but since his phosphate was normal when it was last measured in early March (i.e while he was still eating renal) the vet advised against a stronger one.
To be honest I'm hoping that once this problem with his ear which also seems to affected his nose is cleared up he might start eating the RC again but I've probably blown it by giving him all sorts of tastier goodies in the meantime.  At least he is eating well, even if it is the wrong food.

I got mine from VetUK - I had to get 24 tins. There is no choice with flavour but I think the liver & heart makes it appealing. Vet UK charge around £27 for 24 (190gram tins). I found it on Chemist Direct for around £22 with free post over £40. They sell lots of pet stuff as well as human meds etc and good prices. I know some people have had issues with them but I would just contact the bank if any problems.

I also find pates like that more substantial so reckon you can easily get 3, maybe even 4 meals out of one.

Cats being cats, I just gave Clapton a pouch of RC beef renal and he ate it  - I suppose it is only natural they like a bit of variation?

Do you also give regular or senior food with binders or just renal food?

btw - the Purina renal dry went down well with Clapton & Willow as well  ;D - I don't like them having a lot but they like a few biscuits + as a bonus, it is about £8 for 1.5kg

It sounds like an an ideal texture for Korky.  Too smooth and he can't/wont swallow it and too obviously chunks in jelly/gravy and he licks off the jelly and leaves the chunks. Where did you get it?  I've done a quick search and you seem to have to buy 24 tins which I don't really want to risk (I'm running out of cupboard space - still got loads of RC obesity management and RC renal food that he no longer eats along with the PAH Purely that he loved at first  :sigh:)  I think I'll phone the vets and see if they can get me 2 or 3 tins to try.

It is quite smooth but not dry & cloying like Science Plan pate if that makes sense? I have found with both k/d and RC wet that I can smell it a mile off and it turns my stomach. Purina is more like Supermeat - oddly more like Whiskas supermeat than Felix. I like the tins as well as they have a foil top so easy to open.

Can you easily get one tin? - otherwise I will post you one - just let me know.

:yayyy:  I'm only risking one in case he changes his mind.   Still, it wont go to waste will it.................you'll be having it for breakfast

Is it a totally smooth pate?  I've never tried that one but know from experience that Korky doesn't like anything really smooth  - he seems to find it difficult to eat.

It arrived today. It is a pate, It smelled so nice I could have had it on toast  :evillaugh:

Clapton was on the stairs an reacted to it as if it was his favourite - Sheba Chicken & turkey. He chirupped and came running down the stairs. He even gobbled the first mouthful with the fortekor in it  :evillaugh:

He is one of those cats that won't eat the second part of a tin but luckly, Willow is just as enthusiastic and she is REALLY fussy. I really hope it sn't a one off - I don't think so though as it doesn't have that nauseating smell that other renal foods have.

At over £1 for a 190g tin, It's just as well
I don't want them to get bored so won't feed it all the time but at least one meal a day is taken care of.
